Clonazepam Dependence question

I've taken 9.75 mg of Clonazepam in the last 46 days.

But in the last 8 days I've taken 1 mg 2 times and 0.75 mg 2 times.

Is this a high level of usage?

Am I likely to go through withdrawal?

I want to not take any until April 10th and then cut down to 5 times a month max.

It depends on several factors. Have you ever been dependent to any benzos or gabaergics? Do you have an addictive personality? Have you been addicted to other drugs? Do you have a legitimate anxiety disorder? How is the stress in your life right now? For some...

I experience withdrawal whenever I take even a small amount of a benzodiazepine, and others can go cold turkey off of their script no problem (these are very very few, mind you). So it varies widely.

Its not a ridiculously high amount of usage but its possible you'd experience some withdrawal.

Personally, I wouldn't take that stuff. Once you're hooked, you're reeeally physically hooked and most of the benefits can be gained by therapy.

Ten miligrams in a month in a half aint much. you might have a little discomfort. I am prescribed 5 mgs a day and thats a high dose. Im at the point where I would have to be hospitalized to stop taking it, but I will take this medicine as I need it for anxiety disorder.

Never have been hooked on Clonazepam. I've always tried to take it responsibly.

Make sure you dont dose more than (roughly) once a week. For some people, benzo addiction can creep up on you as deviously as a heroin addiction. Trust me, I know.

Just trying to keep it under control.

I hope it isn't to late for me already considering how much I took in the last 8 days.

I went through 30mg in 15 days and experienced no withdrawal. This wasn't with daily dosing either, so some doses were close to 4mgs at once.

I'm been on Klonopin for like 2 years and sometimes I dont need as much or any at all and have gone about 5 days without it...for me the withdrawal creeps up as severe muscle spasms and then I eventually get allot of anxiety, almost as if I was on a stimulant...it does not feel good. Prior to being on benzos long term I was paranoid about the whole dependence thing...It was my first controlled substance use and I was having trouble with back spasms and trying to sleep so I took 0.5mg of Alprazolam and I never slept so damn good in my life...after that my sleep has been shit ever since! haha anyways you should be fine but if your really paranoid just do a mini taper like 0.5mg, 0.25mg, 0.125mg, ect. Ive tapered off that way easy, of course everyone is different but Klonopin is like the Methadone of benzos aka long acting so dependence won't set in like it would with Ativan or Xanax.

EDIT: BTW Playing with benzos is just like playing with opioids for any doubters....its petting a burning dog. I took both opioids and benzos long before I got a script and from the start I can say that I have taken the minimum needed dose at the most needed time and still practice that today. You don't want a massive tolerance...Ive been on benzos for 4 years (2years on Klonopin and 2 years on and off with Ativan, Klonopin, and Xanax) and I still find 0.5mg to be an effective dose but 1mg on a day where I get bad muscle spasms and insomnia...I do only take it at night but my point is that you can keep it low

One thing that's very important with benzo withdrawal when dealing with dependance is that seizures are a very possible occurrence and can be very dangerous. It's highly recommend to taper off of any benzo rather than quit cold turkey after long periods of use.

There may be some withdrawal, mostly dependent on your past benzodiazepines (ab)use. It probably won't be full blown withdrawal, but some anxiety, insomnia, and depression. The amount you took isn't that high (roughly ~0.200 per day), but amount usually means nothing in comparison to duration of use, and 46 days is long enough to trigger withdrawals, even if they're mild.

Shiit, I remember back in the day, roughly 5 years ago when I was benzo (really any drug) naive, and I was abusing Xanax 4mgs a day just dosing once, for about 2 weeks straight. After my last dose which was when I ran out of the Xanax, I went through, IMO TERRIBLE withdrawals. Could not sleep, alot of anxiety, and cold sweats all day and paranoia, plus alot of bitching from my mom which lead to more anxiety then depression for about a week. Shit SUCKED. But everybody is different. For that experience alone, I will never truly abuse benzos again, just dosing few times a week & knowing when my source is depleting I WILL taper off fasho. *shudders* at the thought of benzo W/D. Shits ugly. IMO

For me it's been three days since I took my last dose of Clonazepam. Right now I feel a little nervous and on edge but nothing too crazy.

Ya bro, your going to feel withdrawals. I have only been taking .25 for three months and I tried to stop and got sick. Now if you don't have a mental illness like Bi Polar then all you will feel is anxiety. Gabapentin however does help the withdrawal but, switching over to something else that kinda has the same make up will only just get you dependent on that. Why do you want to stop? If the drug helps you you should just go with it. But anywho 46 days isn't alot so your withdrawals shouldn't last too long. It's horror stories like these that cause the withdrawals to be so bad.
