I get Clonazepam every month as rxd. Of course many times I use them for recreation on ocassion with few beers or whatever.

I am also a heavy drinker when of the benzos. Was wondering other experiences folks have had when drinking alot, taking a few days off, the picking up the benzos. Does the alcohol tolerance transfer to benzo tolerance? Like I said, I enjoy the combination of a lil of both, but don't get crazy.

Just don't want to over do it, when on the combo. Last thing I want to do is blackout and harm myself or others. Any comments?

I really suggest that you don't drink while you take you clonazepam then. It makes some people very aggressive and hostile, in fact most of the people I've seen in a benzo/booze stupor either end up embarrassing themselves or getting enraged. There's also a risk of overdose depending on how much alcohol you take with it as its a potent CNS depressant along with alcohol.

Alcohol and benzodiazepines share vigorous cross tolerance since they are both gabaergics.

Drop the alcohol since it additionally operates on GABA-B which can cause an entire different addiction with deadly and difficult to treat withdrawal symptoms.

apologies for not answering the cross-tolerance question. yes they both share tolerance issues, consumption of alcohol may lead to an increased tolerance to benzos and vice versa.

i'm hope you also know that alcohol does not act solely on the GABA receptors of the brain either, but rather a whole complex structure of them.

Ok, thanks fellows. Pardon my ignorance. So I see why my heavy drinking cause cos a cross tolerance to clonazepam and other benzos. To be frank, it takes a few of each to cap a lil buzz. So far so lucky I suppose. Do you think I'll be okay if I keep it as a reason does?

If you haven't had a bad experience mixing booze and benzos yet, you have indeed been lucky, and it's not if something bad will eventually come, rather when.

The best advice I can offer is to lay off the booze and use your benzos to help tapper down your alcohol intake if need be. If you have anxiety at all, drinking usually only exacerbates it, which I've learned to be true the hard way.

Best of luck, and stay safe.
