I was lucky enough to get a script for 60 x Clomethiazole 192mg this morning :)
I should be getting it filled early next week.
Apparently it is used for insomnia and to treat alcohol withdrawal.
I am wondering what dose is considered recreational, what the effects are, etc?
I've heard that this is one of the most euphoric downers ever created. Some people even compare it with Methaqualone (although they say this isn't quite as good), so I'm really curious about what I'm actually getting my hands on :)

Any experiences or info that anyone has are greatly appreciated!

It's a sedative and a hypnotic developed by Hoffman-Le Roche a long, long time ago. It's has a definite effect on GABA-A receptors from I've read. Produces: anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, sedative, and hypnotic effects overall. Does have withdrawal symptoms in similarity to alcohol and benzo WDs.

I can see it holding recreational potential, obvious. I have no clue about the dosage needed for recreation. It sounds like it must just well be a very euphoric GABAeric sedative.

Yup I gathered the above info myself from Wikipedia lol... I was hoping to hear from people who have actually experienced it =P

It seems pretty rare though. I can't find anything about it on erowid or any trip reports anywhere on the net

I'll be picking up my script for this stuff tomorrow. Unfortunately no one has posted any first hand experiences or suggested dosages, so looks like i'll have to tread lightly

Becareful with this stuff because i think it might be about as lethal as barbiturates such as secobarbital. Or if not close enough to warrant alot of caution. So yeah have fun and becareful and don't over do it.

Just ask Keith Moon what happens when you overindulge in this stuff :\

I have 5th or 6th or 9th hand knowledge..
There was a girl who knew this guy that knew this other guy that once did something he shouldn't have done..
but later recounted advice to the guy who told the girl(me)

advice received was: Never take more than one at a time... otherwise you may wake up 8 hours later.. lucky to be breathing...and severely confused..
or you may not wake up at all.

Supposed to be like a barb. not a benzo.

Have you heard "Behind Blue Eyes"?
probably not.
sad...sad...sad...

Tread lightly? When you're right..you're right.

@tokenname thanks for the warning! Was going to go for 2, but I think I'll stick with one. I got the script this morning on my way to work. They're grey gel capsules in a glass bottle. For some reason I was expecting them to be orange. Maybe these are the generic. Anywho I think I'll wait until I get home to try them. Probably wouldn't be the best idea to try them at work :o

@tokenname Oh I certainly will! I was unable to find any reports on this substance. After over a week of searching the net all I was able to turn up was a few brief mentions of this stuff on 2 different forums (less than 10 posts total) and the fact that Keith Moon died from it. Other than that it seems relatively unknown among drug abusers (which I find pretty cool - I'm trying a pretty novel compound!) I have really high expectations of this stuff as well. Like I said in my original post, I had seen it compared to methaqualone, which is amazing! I can't believe I have 60 of these things!

Well if it was unknown because most people that abused it died, than I would avoid it like the plague! However as far as I can tell this is not the case. It seems like this is just extremely hard to obtain a prescription for (as far as I can tell it's not pharmaceutically available in most countries) and has largely been superseded by z-drugs, benzos, and anti-seizure drugs. This seems like one of the wonderful sedatives from the 60s/70s (like Milltown, Quaaludes,Placdyl) that just never made it to market in the USA and was basically overlooked.

Well my first trial of Clomethiazole was interesting. I took gelcap around 7:15pm and promptly got in bed and waited. I started to feel the effects around 7:45pm. It came on pretty fast. A very clean inhibited feeling. Much cleaner than alcohol. It was different from any sedative/hypnotic I've ever felt. It had a bit of a sparkle to it. I felt very lazy, but didn't care. I also felt significantly less intelligent, like it would be hard to solve complex problems on this stuff, but I welcomed the feeling. It was relaxing. There was also a marked burning sensation in my nose (which I had read about on a forum post from many years ago). It was fairly painful to breathe through my nose. It was a very corrosive feeling (like the burn after snorting 2C-I, but not nearly as intense). I tried my best to ignore it and it eventually subsided.

A girl I'm seeing called me around 8:10pm to talk. It was a pleasant conversation, but I didn't have too much to say. I enjoyed listening to her, however I felt my responses to what she had to say lacked depth, in comparison to my responses when sober or on other substances. I definitely don't think this is a very social drug.

Around 8:50pm I ended the conversation and laid on my back in bed for about 40mins. There was a definite decrease in mental function, which I found pleasant. I was relaxed and engulfed with a sparkly euphoric feeling. I felt at peace with everything. The last time I looked at my clock was around 9:30pm. I fell asleep around this time.

Roughly an hour later I was awakened by yelling in the hallway outside my bedroom. Some people I live with were having a rather loud argument. It was 10:30pm. I did not feel any noticeable effects of the drug upon awakening. I also did not feel very tired and knew I wouldn't be able to get back to sleep. I got up and used the bathroom. Had no trouble walking & my coordination was spot on. I then got back in bed and took 7.5mg Zopiclone and 10mg Zolpidem. I laid in bed and texted my girl for about an hour. I felt as though my mental function/intelligence had returned to near baseline. As the Zopiclone & Zolpidem kicked in it did not feel any stronger or different than it normally does (I've taken these drugs for multiple years and am quite accustomed to their effects). I was concerned with possible synergy or potentiation of these drugs, but I don't believe much of either occurred. I fell asleep around 11:45pm and awoke at 6am for work feeling well rested. No hangover or lingering effects.

Overall I'm not totally sure how I feel about this drug. It was definitely interesting and unique. The nose burning effect was extremely unpleasant and one of the largest factors that would make me not want to repeat the experience. I'm not sure if it was quite what I expected, but for the most part it felt pretty good. I'm keeping in mind that I took a very low dose & I suspect the euphoria will be stronger with slightly higher doses (2-3 gelcaps). I think I'll probably try this stuff again fairly soon (since I have 59 gelcaps left) and since it was a pretty good experience. I certainly would not take this in a social setting though and I am going to try to space my trials out over time so to mitigate the chances of encountering some of the negative effects I've read about with frequent use (bad breath/body smell, psychosis, etc.)

On another note, I got 100 x 400mg Equanil (Meprobromate) tablets (aka Milltown) this morning from South Africa (one of the few places you can still get a Rx for them). I'm feeling really chill right now haha =3 These things are definitely better than Carisoprodol IMO. Very different feeling, pretty cool. Now I know why these were so popular when they first hit the market :)

Holyservant...

I feel like this update lacked detail.
Maybe you could take some notes next time?
;)
Happy to hear all went safe & pleasant..
Can't ask for better than that.

I like to keep a certain brand of carisoprodol around
just for good luck...

I've always thought milltown would've been right up my
alley had I been in the alley at the right time.

I was curious about this...thanks for updating.

Thanks for the update holyservant :) I'm going to close this now as it's been answered, and I suggest you check out the Trip Reports forum - as there is little info out there about clomethiazole it might be helpful to post your experience there too?

Closed, pm me with any queries :)
