So I wrote this prolly 3 mo this ago. Any thoughs or opinions would be nice, go easy on me though its one of my first poems. It's a bit long and doesn't rhyme. But hey thought I'd share regardless.
Darkness comes
Blacker then pitch,
lighter then air,
Yet this broiling mixture still instills fear.
A father with no soul,
A mother barren of child,
An empty void,
Left where light should shine,
And yet; without regret,
They feel no pain as they let their blades cut home.
Sing hard: sing loud,
Let what you know hold true,
Let the light inside shine bright,
Tend to your fire,
Tend to your home.
Scream your prayers to the sky,
Let Heaven hear your cries,
Make the gods look down in fear,
As what they wrought falls to ruin.
A man void of choices,
A stark childhood, raised alone.
Left to the worlds darker temptations,
No one, with who's hand he can hold,
He laughs with violence, as he admits his sins,
Let's darkness in,
Relinquishes his soul.
The woman with whom no child can be had,
A defect of birth: a burden, does naught but hurt,
Unable to give back the precious gift given her,
Scorned by the world,
Abandoned by family,
No love for the barren,
She gives into impulse,
She will not be alone,
Grabs her knife; laughs violently as she admits her sins,
Let's darkness in,
Relinquishes her soul.
A fallen couple,
To each other, unbeknown.
Yet alone in the world, they find,
Even in the darkest time; left alone and void of home,
You are not yet truly alone.
A spree of revenge,
A fountain of anger,
Let the streets run red,
For soon their blades shall cut home.
A man and a woman unbeknown,
Nothing to lose,
Blades aimed at home,
Rage in their hearts, at a world in war,
Violence they did not start,
Yet a spree of horrors they intend to finish.
They are not alone,
Their stories are common,
Just two simple people who give in to the dark temptations;
Those that hide in the dark corners,
The deep recesses of our mind,
The voice in your head that screams for justice,
Hungers for blood,
Fights for control in a world of corruption, greed, and evil.
Many a man you may ask,
The response the same:
My light shines strong,
To temptation I have not given,
My life is devout, pure, and simple,
I hold my light high,
A beacon of hope,
My family I raise,
My wife I do praise.
But, what you must remember:
That even the pious fall,
None can withstand the tests of time,
None can hold out and all must submit,
Even the brightest among us, give to darkness.
The brighter the light you cast,
Darker the shadows grow.
They hunt for the brightest,
The purest of heart,
They come for those in a time of need,
They prey on the desperate,
It is always time to feed.
In a world full of shadow,
How can a light still shine?
We are not all good,
Most are fake,
They try to be, an ideal member of a corrupt and broken society,
Yet in the end it will all fall.
The dimmer your light,
the lesser the shadows,
Give in to the darkness and watch them vanish,
No longer hunted by your darkness,
You can have freedom from evil.
It's not changing who you are,
There are no good people:
Just evil pretending it's not what it is,
And darkness always comes back to claim it's own,
None will escape the darkness in their soul,
Over time it grows, festers, screams to be let out,
It's not a game to see if it will win,
But instead a game,
To see,
When ur mind it will claim.
Scream your prayers to the sky,
Waste your breath,
In the end it will be easier if you do not fight.
Because the darkness allways comes,
A game it will play,
To the victor go the spoils,
Win or lose,
It's prize:
Your soul.
Blacker then pitch,
lighter then air,
Yet this broiling mixture still instills fear,Ii's coming, give in; no light can withstand it's grim toll.
