Cleaning an iolite vape

My 'daisy screen' and the bowl in general is pretty clogged because I lent it to a friend who didn't use a screen for some reason. The guy at the store warned me about using isypropyl alcohol because it might eat through the plastic. I don't have any of that shit, so I was thinking of using nail polish remover. I'd figure I'd ask somebody first before I dunk it in a bunch of chemicals.
 
Well, rubbing alcohol (70% isopropyl) comes in plastic bottles, so I think you'd be safe with that.

FYI: Be sure to collect the alcohol you use and let it evaporate. You'll be left with a nice surprise ;)
 
^ so does gbl, but you wouldn't want to get that shit on your keyboard (been there, done that...).

Still, I think you'll probably be safe with it. If you're worried, dilute it by half.

I can confirm this. However, I don't think IPA is going to dissolve plastics, it's too polar (can you imagine vodka eating through plastic?). If you use nail polish remover, make sure it evaporates cleanly (pour some into a dish, let it evaporate. If there's a solid residue left, don't use it on your vape).
 
On mine, if you unscrew the mouthpiece, you can push the entire metal bowl/screen assembly out of the plastic housing. Then I soak just the metal bits in IPA, and use pipe cleaners dipped in IPA to clean the rest. None of the plastic has melted on me, but I haven't soaked it either, only the metal.

So you're saying to soak it for 12 hours in rubbing alcohol? For some reason I don't own any rubbing alcohol or know much about it :| Do they come in different concentrations? Eh, I'll just borrow some from a neighbour or something.

I was talking to a guy working at a head shop the other day. He was saying that he felt he'd be able to help the customers more if he could actually test the products. He get most his information off of what customers say about things they bought. I really hate this one chain of stores... *no naming of sources for paraphenalia please*. In some of them, it's like the employees are putting on a show by acting like they are baked out of their minds. It's so annoying.
