Cipralex 10mg Selective SSRI causing Homicide/Suicide behavour?

I got prescribed from my dr Cipralex 10mg 2 months ago, but I was afraid that it causes suicidal behavour and hostile to others.
Is there an official PDF version were I can download the official full prescribing infromation on this?
Im afraid to take it.

Also I am on Xanax. I take 1mg per day.

But Cipralex, Im afraid to take it and have not even told my dr that I dont take this.

So is there a website were people can download a FULL PRESCRIBING INFORMATION for all other drugs in PDF format?

Well frankly - if you feel fine without taking it, then I suggest that you stick to not taking it. Cipralex has been shown to increase suicial behaviour in already depressed patients.

IMO taking ciraplex isnt worth the risks if you feel that you will become homicidal.

tell your doctor everything, he/she has to know whats up to accurately treat you. however, i wouldnt tell yor DR that you have suicidal thoughts because he will put you in lock down. im a little confused, do you have these thoughts, or are you afraid they will occur?

i would be straight up and tell your DR that you are afraid of ciraplex side effects so you arent taking it. you know your body the best. depending on the type of dr, he might push it on you, but hold your ground.

i personally have gotten a little suicidal on SSRIs also because of depression, but that was a one time incidence and after i stoped zoloft the thoughts went away. know your shit, do research, google and BL are your friends

good luck!! if you really do have these thoughts you might need some type of treatment center (inpatient or outpatient)but tread very carefully! words can be easily misconstrued so dont be ambiguous and stick to your guns

These are just side effects that this drug and many other drugs carry. Your only probably at risk of this side effect if you have suicidal tendencies or suicidal predispositions. If you don't, yet you still feel like you don't want to take a drug that carries such a side effect, talk to your doctor about a change in medication.

I seen similar effects with Citalopram (rather than cipralex/escitalopram). I was severely depressed before, but it made me feel even more depressed, more sucidial ideation and definitely more aggression - to the point if I "flipped out" I was dangerous. At one point, I took 3 police officers down, another chased three idiots with a butchers knife - not something I'd usually do.


Some of mine might be explained by the horribly violent graphic nightmares though. On the whole, Citalopram (slightly different) were worse for me than other SSRIs. It definitely seemed to lower my anger threshold though and make me suicidal.

Yeah with any medications in this class these extreme reactions aren't the norm but they are without doubt possible. As the info you get says, if you feel your mood getting unstable you need to contact your doctor right away and work out a different medication.

This should NOT scare people off from taking them though because a lot of people can benefit a good deal from them. Another good thing is to talk over possible side effects with the pharm when you pick up your Rx. They often know more than the doctors writing for the meds in my experience.

I think that part of the reason why SSRI's can induce suicidal feelings is due to the long onset of time before the really take full effect - the person is taking them and not feeling instantly better leading them to believe that there is no hope and it isnt working making them worse as there are no other options left... or so it seems. But that only explains the first few weeks... Its a hit and miss I think some people become suicidal on some SSRI's ultimately what may cause you to help your depression may make someone else violent, suicidal etc. If you dont need it and are coping without it, your better off without it but if you really feel you need it then its upto you... you can always come off it if you are worse.

I only have experience with Zoloft but it made me have wild mood swings every 2 hours from being insanely suicidal depressed to the point where words dont describe, to extremely euphoric. They did level out after 3 days and I felt better but decided to come off it.

I don't think that's actually true, I have heard of people developing suicidal (or homicidal) ideation/behaviour while taking antidepressants when they had no prior history of such, so it's not just something that only happens to people who are already having those issues. However, these kind of side effects are rare, and Cipralex isn't particularly known for them, it's just that almost all antidepressants carry this warning.

I think understanding that a medication can carry a risk for such side effects is helpful in order to respond rationally if it did actually happen, at least you could think to yourself "Hmm, maybe the drug I'm on is making me feel this way" and go talk to your doctor instead of actually acting on the thoughts you were having. At least that's what I did when it happened to me, it was a lot easier to deal with because I told myself that the suicidal thoughts and irritability were just being caused by the drug and weren't "me" and so I wasn't tempted to act on anything and I figured it would get better upon stopping the drug (which it did).

As bronson said, it's not common and is just something to be on the look-out for and speak with your doctor immediately if you find you are developing unstable moods.

^Well there's actually a lot of conflicting evidence on this subject as it still remains controversial. Some evidence points that ssri's do not increase suicidal behavior but actually decrease it, some suggest that ssri's develop malevolent and suicidal behavior in those with no predispositions, and some points toward it increasing these behaviors only in those with predispositions.

I know what your saying though, given that some criminal cases have been discounted on the basis that the behavior was seeded by ssri's.

^ I think it has much to do with the fact that every individual reacts slightly differently to various substances. It's just a warning put forth since it is a possibility that has been observed in some people.
