I find it potentiates Xanax for me pretty well. Is this a myth. If not how often and how much should I take to potentiate Xanax on an on going basis

Not sure but It seems to work alright for OC.

What I want to know is what is the optimal time to wait to dose after youve taken it.

I'm not sure if cimetadine potentiates benzos...certainly potentiates opiates tho. someone here will know more about this than me.

Grapefruit juice works as a potentiater for benzo's, as well as opiates though, it seems to be an 'all rounder', & it certainly won't do you any harm. Give that a go for now is my advice.

Cimetidine: Cimetidine significantly impaired the clearance of alprazolam and prolonged its half-life. In healthy volunteers, a single 1 mg dose of alprazolam was administered with and without concurrent administration of cimetidine (300 mg) every 6 hours. Cimetidine significantly reduced total metabolic clearance (1.05 versus 1.66 mL/min/kg) and significantly prolonged elimination half-life (16.6 hours versus 12.4 hours). Similar results were observed during repeated administration of both drugs

Found this on web. What does it mean

lol it means that cimetidine potentiates alprazolam significantly in terms of how long its effects last. Thats my interpretation anyway...

*edit* Good info btw....if it has that effect on xanax, it probably does on all benzo's, which answers my lack of knowledge on the matter I posted above, cheers:)

Cimeditine is a CYP450 3a4 inhibitor so it inhibits the metabolism of all drugs metabolized by that liver enzyme, many opiates and certain benzos like alprazolam included.

It will make it stronger and last longer. AFAIK, there isn't a standard rubric to quantify exactly how much so be cautious.

This has been discussed quite a bit so search around, you might find more precise information.
