So what I meant by the title is that, whenever I'm on some benzos, any kind, but mainly Xanax or Clonazepam. Then I smoke a square, reg flavor or menthol dosent magter, it feels like its depleting the effect of my benzo high and/or shortening the duration ? Is there some actual chemistry info that proves this, what I am feeling or is it simply some weird placebo effect I guess that I am getting ? Its most MAINLY with Xanax that when I'm barred out on 2 or 3mgs & proceed to smoek a cigarette about halfway through or after finishing it it feels like the Xanax is no longer working -_- .. ? Or I'm just back to normal as if I never took the Xanax to begin with... Any reasons why I am feeling this ? Then again with Clonazepam it dosent really feel AS MUCH as I am describing with the Xanax but there is stil some effect to that regardless.. So anybody got an idea of what this is , some insight?

Also I couldnt find anything on here about this topic & have been wondernig about this myself for a bit. 8(

been discussed alot. i wish it wasn't true because i smoke cigs, but i can definitely tell when i smoke a cig after a valium. fucking sucks! i usually wait 1-2hrs after my last cig to dose up valium, and i chew nicotine gum if i get craving.+

however, ciggs didnt decrease temazepam for me, which i think is because it is oxidized rather than metabolized through enzyme 3A4. basically, most, if not all, benzos (besides temazepam, lorazepam, oxazepam, and other oxidized benzos) will be decreased by cigarette SMOKE. the nicotine really doesnt affect the benzos, but the hydrocarbons in cig smoke induce 3A4

Coffee and cigs can blur out the sedation for a few minutes to an hour, coffee I find having much more effect on me, but it's true that nicotine decreases benzo activity, it's more potent on some benzos rather than others from what I gather

^^ oh thanks for posting sources. i guess temazepam and lorazepam are affected by ciggies.

Oh wow, thanks guys for all the responses. So I guess it is true , this feeling I was getting Ha Daaamn, well dat suckkss. Cuz i LOVE smoking ciggs while on a benzo or two. :/ Laaamee.

It does indeed suck, everyone likes smoking on benzos. Even for people who don't normally smoke , i see them get a craving while barred out. But yea, makes the xanax ware off quickly : (

I'd just like to point out that although one may feel lessened effects after smoking, you can still be fairly messed up without noticing due to the rapid perception shift. This is to say, don't operate heavy machinery, et. al. Just because you're feeling rather sober, the actual change is not usually so drastic in reality.

Smoking maybe affects me on low doses. I took half a mg xanax last night and didn't have any noticeable changes. I took the other half hours later and struggled to stay awake. I smoked quite a few cigarettes and it didn't kill my buzz at all.
