Hi,
Trying to think of where to start.
I apologise if I misunderstand the purpose, language policy and general being of this site. I have read the policies and am pretty sure I am good. Apologies as well if I yammer, it is the proverbial long story. So:
I am an out of work 'young professional' belonging to the tail end of Gen-X, and a chronic pain sufferer for in excess of 5 years. I know someone identifying themselves as a 'young professional' makes them sound like a bit of a tool. But it makes me feel better (most of the time) to remember that I was once going places.
I guess what brings me here is information on prescription medications, along with the feeling that some of the more 'conventional' forums do not match what I would consider my peer group. I understand that all age groups experience pain for various reasons, but there can be somewhat of a negative reaction to medication at times on sites I have visited. I am all for trying alternative therapies (and I do) but sometimes I just want to say "fuck it, I want the pills".
At the moment I going through opiate withdrawal, not a patch on what I suspect many users here go through but it sucks nonetheless. Coming off Tapentadol, which was pretty good in terms of pain relief but for reasons of trying some other treatments which require that I not be on it, as well as wanting to reassess the baseline of my condition I wanted to come off it. Had to just stop in the end since a tapered approach was not moving or reducing the worst spell.
I want nothing more at the moment that 2-300mg of Tapentadol, but I want to give this at least a week to measure my baseline. Even if being off opiates in the long term is not sustainable.
