Hey there,

I am a 26/M have been using Oxycodone for several years and naturally my doses get higher and higher. I usually sniff it, and am addicted. Anyway, in the past it would give me an energy boost and I'd clean up and get things done. This last month, I have been chronically fatigued. I sleep at like 5am and wake up around 12:00-2pm, and within being awake fro 2-4 hours I am sleepy and want to take a nap. Usually by 6pm-8pm, my eyes will start closing as I sit at my desk. I try not to nap because I know I shouldn't need to after getting 7-9 hours of sleep?

I am not sure if this is caused by my chronic oxycodone use, or if I have some health condition. I hate doctors and dont want to go get blood tests and all that crap... I was wondering if anyone else has had the same issues?

Perhaps this high level of oxycodone use is affecting my sleep so I dont get enough real rest, or maybe just using so much makes me tired now instead of awake? Anyway, let me know if you guys ever experience this same feeling.

Oh yeah, this happens. As tolerance goes up, a lot of the 'good' or 'positive' feelings go away. You could try tapering down to a smaller dose? It might help you feel more energetic after all is said and done.

Try to go to bed earlier, the prime sleeping hours for rest and energy are like 10pm to 6am. Now, I personally can't go to bed as early as 10pm, but staying up until 5am and waking up at noon is going to add to the lethargy you're feeling. A good diet with vitamins on the side never hurts either (;

I can't tell from your post if you're physically active or not, but if you haven't been, you've gotta work to regain your normal energy level because it probably took some time to lose it. Working out, or even taking a small walk everyday will help you feel better in time.

I dunno, that's just my 2cents. Hope you find something that helps!

^^^^^^^^

Everything mentioned in this post is accurate. try cutting back like mentioned & see if the magic doesnt appear once again. Imo, less is more.

if your an addict and you can "cut back" successfully and recapture the magic and get your energy back your my hero..good luck

Hey---

Thanks everyone for the info. I have not been exercising nearly at all. THe last time I went for a walk with my dad and we went up hills and stairs for 1.5 hours and I wasn't really winded. I felt good to know that although chronically tired, I am not out of shape. It did make me feel better that day, but I do not regularly exercise.

It just scares me though--- would you say that being totally tired all the time is normal if u r chronic oxycontin abuser? Could it be something else like cancer or diabetes or something crazy like that? I mean, I know it CAN be - but most likely this is oxycodone because this happens to anyone who abuses it for a couple years... right?

It's like if I've been awake for just a few hours I can't keep my eyes open... especially when I am sitting down. If I am doing things I'm not as tired.

Thanks for the advice guys

i mean of course it COULD be cancer...but its waaaaay more likely its the drugs..after a few years your battery gets drained ive been there..its the pills

Bend over & I will check your prostate, LMAO......dude, only way you can know of any diseases or if you have health problems is by going to the doctor. I recommend having blood work & a physical done every 5 years.

Your fine this always happens when your tolerance rises.

I hope your right. It's just so weird! I nod out talking to ppl, and find my eyes closing at my desk and othe rplaces too. Today I woke up at 12pm, then took an hour long nap at 2:30pm... maybe I"m depressed and don't know it or something. When I am walking around wiht my heart rate up it's better, or exercising. I take like 12-16 30mg roxies a day and lately I havn't even been getnarely ting high---- do u think i'm like tolerant to all of the

I am so scared that I have diabetes or something. I'm a hypochondriac, but im only 25 and im not obese or something so it wouldn't make sense. 5'11 and 195 lbs. I gained like 10 lbs in the past month or two but I have not been exercising and eating bad, but chronic fatigue and sudden weight gain is diabetes symptom. Other things too... hope I am just being paranoid.

So... you guys can vouch that when you grow tolerant to oxycodone and abuse it for a long time it starts fatiguing the fuck out of you?

Nobody can say if you're really sick or not with regards to cancers, diseases, parasites, whatever....if you really think something like that is a possibility try to narrow down the list of suspects and go to a free clinic and get answers to all your questions....

Having said that, you're probably 99.5% NOT sick, but are almost certainly just experiencing the effects or side effects of taking large doses of any opiate, oxycodone included. I was doing about a gram or more of oxycodone per day, taking 240-320mg doses 3 to 5 times a day on average, all oral doses....
When I started needing to take over 160mgs to get euphoric I just ended up getting sleepy from the high dose instead, and due to a growing tolerance there was no going back w/out going through some sort of taper or w/d

SO to your question, you are almost certainly healthy and free of serious illness other than your oxy addiction. The high doses of oxy make you sleepy and your tolerance, time spent using, dependence etc... are cumulatively why the euphoria is gone.

BUT there are ways to fix it and these teks will also allow you to confirm oxy use is the root of your problems and not any illness...

1) Try taking less doses per day, but make the doses you do take that much larger. (For example, if you take 400mg per day via 4 100mg doses per day, you would take 3 doses of 133.3mg instead. You could also do 2 100mg doses and make the last dose of the day 200mg. The higher doses taken less often may help you get some euphoria, just be safe and don't over do it, ( those numbers were arbitrary, do NOT go above a dose you don't feel safe taking simply to make sure you take the full allotment of opiate that day)

2) Change your ROA. I would never advocate IV use, but if your snorting them, take them orally on an empty stomach, chew it, or parachute it to swallow instead. And if you use orally try snorting some of the dose instead, taking some of a given dose orally (say...60mg orally leaving 40mg left for a 100mg total dose)and then snorting the other portion of the dose ( which would be 40mg in this example) when you feel the oral dose about to peak... ALSO for people who both snort and / or eat their pills, you could always try plugging. I've never plugged any pill b4, but I do know its very effective for other opiates and everything I've seen says people often do plug opiate pills and rather enjoy the intense high.

3) Switch drugs for a bit, if your DOC is oxy, switch to oxymorphone, hydromorphone, morphine, or even heroin. When you go back to oxy after a few weeks you might just get the magic back, even if only temporarily.

4) Taper or withdrawal. If you take 400mg per day now, get down to where you can take 100mg or less per day without feeling any w/d symptoms. Once you get used to taking a lower daily dosage, taking 25% or less of the original daily dose, then when you take 100mg all at once you'll get very high. BUT if u can taper that low maybe you should go all the way and quit, if you can you should, period.
