chippers, how the hell do you do it?

The longest I've ever gone is 10 days without a hit. I thought I would be able to chip but found myself saying "it's ok, I'll break the habit again later" and just went ahead indulging every day again. How do you do it?

well if its not your drug of choice, then it is easy as hell, but that prob goes wtihout saying. in the past i have had large amounts of coke on me and had no temptation to use

with heroin (something much more to my liking) its a totally different story. i chipped very successfully for 1 - 1.5 years before things started to go down the bad path. one key that helped me succeed was keeping strict about some of my rules. one was having AT LEAST 2 days of no getting high between each day of getting high. most of the time i was able to go a good 3-4 days totally clean. i know some people are rule breakers and say that setting rules will never work, but it worked extremely well for me. this is probably mainly because i am a very anal person in that i am obsessed with order and organization. having been a former wrestler and former avid weightlifter, i am very familiar with rules and routines and it was easy to not allow myself to break those routines.

the breaking point for me started when my life started getting more stressful. then i starting using when i had any excuse....and i always found one. had a bad day, get high and make it better. had a great day, celebrate by getting high. as trite as it sounds, life sober started looking worse and worse.

if you truly love the drug, and you have unlimited (or quite handy) access to it, i dont see how you could not eventually become addicted.

over the past two years i slowly went from 1x a week, to 3x a week, to five times a week, then back to always taking a day off between uses...though for the past two weeks i've been on every day... d'oh!

The easiest way to chip is to control your quanities.

If you don't have a 8-ball of coke / gram of heroin inside your underwear drawer, it's a lot easier to fight the urge to do it.

Sometimes things need to be saved for a good time. You shouldn't be tempted by things like that. Just save it for a better time. I try to party hard on the weekend when don't have work or school. If its a bad weekend-like no parties going on, etc I wouldn't party. If I did party on a bad weekend it would be a waste, especially when I have a tolerance I am not trying to make even worse.

Except smoking trees now I can't go a whole 12 hours without blazing!Oppps!

I used to be quite a chipper... but I guess it was never really my drug of choice. And having a fairly good idea of how bad opiate addiction can be also helped. I remember I would get cravings like every month or two, then I would get a few days supply and indulge, after the supply finished, I was perfectly happy and didnt want anymore.

^ Is the week on enought that you get withdrawls? Could you explain in detail?

well i tend to chip myself when it comes to heroin or other opiates. i'll use in moderation for awhile, and occasionally get out of control. i'll experience withdrawls and basically stop for a little while. then the cycle starts all over again.

guys guys, she had good advice for all drugs/alcohol. my friend was an alcohoolic when she hung out with a certain crowd, now she is not. It was all who she was hanging out with.

For sure friends have a lot to do with it. But that's not a problem with the friends I have since I have none hahaha. My one drug buddy is dead and that didn't stop me from gettin high, I even made it a priority to score before his wake, it seemed more important.

Paradoxycle: I second that information request, how the hell can you use for a week straight and not WD hard. If you don't mind me asking, how many bags do you typically load into a barrel?

I enjoy opioids quite a lot myself, I will aqquire some somehow, and get a good nod off whatever I have (assuming it is a mu-opioid agonist of course), then put away the rest if I scored ore than one hit worth, in my stash and probably forget about it for a month or two.

I have a rule also, never, to use opioids other than Salvia, twice in any week, or save for nonrecreational doses of codeine or DHC, on two concurrent days. Salvia is different of course, as it is both nonaddictive and not a traditional opiate, I tend to use salvia at least twice a week, to maintain reverse tolerance.

No usually not. Sometimes I get irritable and have problems sleeping the first few days after I stop but we typically do not experience WD.

Salvia isn't an opiate, is it? I'm pretty sure it isn't.

Not sleeping gets really old, really fast. I just save it for the weekend when I can sleep all afternoon if I don't pass out until noon. :D

I don't have the willpower to save it til the weekend, wish I did. Plus I'm a rebel so I like to rebel against rules, even my own self-imposed ones.
