Chills and Sweats after 7 days clean

I was in AA in Los Angeles for about 2 years, I managed to stay sober through rehabs, sober livings, and by myself for about a year and a half. I moved back home and then decided I could do dope for 1 weekend, and obviously I got caught up again.

So about 7 days ago I quit cold turkey after about 2 months of heroin and suboxone use. And the withdrawals were worse this time, progression disease. So I got through the aching legs and restlessness/ going crazy. The past two nights I actually slept almost ok with almost no night chills/sweats and insomia, just a nightmare. Then yesterday I started noticaebly more hot and cold flashes at night, and was getting cold sweats during the night. And now I'm at work and I'm sweating and my body temperature cannot regulate for shit. I'm ALWAYS either hot r cold, there is like no in between.

I only used for about 2 months, sniffing very high purity dope. I'm 7 days clean and this temperature thing is really bothering me. Just want to find out if anyone else experienced this symptom lasting longer than the usual 3-4 day heroin withdrawal.

Thanks

Hey taz, sorry you feel this way.. congratulations on seven days, that's no easy feat and your doing great. If you tell us your last week of doses we will be able to give you a reasonable estimation of the withdrawal... suboxone has a real long half life so it is pretty common for withdraws to last ten to fourteen days before starting to get better. Also you can be taking medications to help with this significantly.. the clonidine and neurontin can make a big difference in this. The portion of your brain that controls body temperature is the hypothalamus, it also controls all the other things that we feel in detox..

The medications I would explore the use of fror detox would be:

>Clonidine< DOSED EVER FOUR HOURS..

one of either
>NEURONTIN< >HERE< >HERE<
OR >Lyrica<

>A BENZO BUT JUST AT NIGHT<
>a nsaid<
>melatonin<
tylenol

It only takes a little while to wander out of hell.. and you've been wondering for a bit so with a little longer you will be free again<3=D

I know what you're going through man, I always thought, "one week of hell and it's all over" but just recently I stupidly dropped off from 16mgs or more of sub a day to nothing. I was doing it for 2 years and I just went cold turkey. The first week was absolute misery of course, the second week wasn't much better. I kept thinking "why am I still feeling this way? It's been two freaking weeks!" It wasn't until day 18 or 19 that I noticed some semblance of normal feelings. Everyone is different and since you already made it seven days all you have to do is keep going. Everyday is victory, and everyday you don't use you get that much closer to being done.

Thanks for your responses. My mom is a nurse and she knows I just went through withdrawal so I just asked if she can grab some clonidine for me tomorrow. But I actually have a bottle of nuerontin because my old addiction psychiatrist gave me them for my anxiety disorder. So I'll try that.

I was using strong fentanyl based heroin for like 2 weeks, then 2 mg subs for about 2 weeks, then real strong afghan heroin for another 4 weeks and occasionally taking subs in between when I ran out if dope.

Nice i hope this helps<3.. its not a cure all but it is WAY WAY better than nothing.. have your mom check your blood pressure and follow her advice with the clonodine as it causes blood pressure drop. Please let us know how you are doing. You can do this and we are here to support you. :)

Edit: and stay away from the fent H if you want to live:!<3

Good thing you'd make through these seven days. If you think you feel better now and haven't been taking any since that last seven days of agony, then I sugges don't come back to it afterall.
