I just got ate by some chiggers. They got me all around my groin, and butt. I have multiple allergies as is. The past couple of days my outer ear has hurt in a way that resembles glandular pain. I'm wondering if anyone can provide insight into if a bite down there can cause other allergy symptoms such as headache, ear pain...

My body is inhabited by invisible dust mites.

I have dust mites. They are invisible to the naked eye and burrow into your body. They are attracted to ones pheromones, so you could get them and your roommate might not get them.
Over the course of about 12 days, I received about 400 to 600 red marks all over my body, especially in my crotch. I can feel them moving around and biting especially on my scalp. It was terrible. They're bite can even effect your immune system in some people.

I only received relief when I purchased a 4lb bag of Diatomaceous Earth for $9 at Home Depot and spread the powder on my mattress, rug, shoes and other shit. It works by drying the wax on the bugs body causing them to die. Within a half hour of applying DE, the bugs all died. I had to put it in my hair too. My Mom even bought me a plastic mattress sleeve to protect it from re-infestation. They came back a few days later, so I am reapplying the DE powder and will see how it goes.

I have heard from many others on the web about their horrible experiences with dust mites. I hope others can benefit and find comfort from my experience with battling these fucking devils.

This link is great. It has allot of effective remedies on how to combat the dust mites.

They burrow into the body?? UGH I didn't know they did that, I thought they just caused sneezing and other sort of histamine reactions. 8o

Dust mites don't bite nor burrow into human skin. Dust mites feed exclusively on the dead skin cells that we shed every day in the form of dandruff and other flakes and particles. They are essentially scavengers, not predators or parasites. Perhaps you have bed bugs or fleas.

well, I agree with PI: you're sure they're not bedbugs? DE+mattress sleeve are effective ways to deal with bedbugs, too.

if it is not delusional parasitosis (from meth uses).. endure. The buggers will lose - i had tens (or hundreds, even) of very very small bites near the ankles. I even saw a dermatologist (you should, too). I lived in a campus and had a little kitty coming in my room sometimes - I started to see fleas jumping from my keyboard.
In short, I sprayed every damned surface of my room with insecticide, used a insect-repellant foam to clean the carpet in the room and put a 'no cat allowed' sign on the door. In the end, it worked (even if it took almost one month for all the bites to disappear. go figure what it was)

But go to a dermatologist, just to assess what is causing your bites/wounds

I havent used crack in 4 years roughjack. My mental health is improving every day. Since quitting drugs I am having to learn commonplace stuff that should of been addressed when I was a child. Can you guess how old I am? Nowadays I just mellow out by exploring my new City on my high performance mountain bike. I dont really talk to anyone, but I try to openly flirt with older widows. I dont know if anyone thinks I'm srs.
I think that I "caught" the invisible bugs by walking in some tall weeds beneath my stairs. Many times I have heard of a situation where a patient has to beg the Dr. to believe him that she's inhabited by "invisible bugs".

Heres a current pic of the affected area. My camera sucks, so you cant really see all the bumps. Only the redness shows. I have been without bugs for about 5 days now. I definitively didn't have bedbugs, they're about 3mm big and I havent seen any.

I now think that i have biting mites and NOT dust mites. Heres why:

Anyone that has had to deal with scabies is familiar with biting mites. Scabies is a contagious skin infection in humans and animals that is a result of biting mites. Tiny biting mites burrow under the skin of the host, causing an intense allergic reaction. The reaction manifests itself in a constant itching feeling on the skin. Because the mites prefer skin that is thin and hairless, the problem often concentrates around the crevices of the body below the neck where skin constantly rubs together, such as between fingers and toes, thighs, groin, etc. Symptoms of biting mites include intense itching and rashes.

Have you ever been tested for cyberchondriasis?

Since you don't have any medical training you shouldn't try to diagnose and treat yourself; if you ever start to show signs or symptoms you should head to a doctor's office and not home depot. If you are uninsured or don't have a lot of money, there are likely free clinics around given that you live in a city.

Scabies is easy to test. And most of your family will get it, if you have that mites infesting your house. Of all the possibilities, this is definitively one that should prompt a visit to the doctor. (did I already say 'go see a doctor'?)

Scabies was my immediate thought. You go to the doctor and get some cream to use for a couple days and they're gone. Scabies are mites. It can't hurt to get it checked out!

Its a link to a very good resource about how to eradicate bed bugs, chiggers, biting mites etc. It has alot of home remedies too.
I just got rid of biting mites. They are attracted to your bodies pheromones. My crotch got all torn up from biting mite bites. Biting mites are invisible. I used a non toxic product call D Earth. $9 for 4lbs. It got rid of the bugs in like 30 min. It dries the wax out on their bodies and they die. You spread it on rugs and mattresses and your shoes. I got a mattress cover too. These bugs are soo bad. It sucks when people know you have bugs, cause they will hassle you about it. You can get therapy for it, or talk to others in a focus group on a forum in the above link.

This is a link to the D Earth powder. It worked great for me.

If my skin doesn't completely heal/get progressively better, then I will make an appt. with a Dr.
I am going to get rid of the weeds beneath my stairs where I believe I picked them up.

I got this from the earlier link:
Have the docs used a woodslamp on you or a scope of anykind? One thing ive noticed with me and my infected friends here is that under a woodslamp (blacklight) areas most infested with the mites will fluoresce a yellowish green (im color blind, but thats what my friends say it is), and going by medical diagrams it fluoresces about the color indicative of ringworm fungus. ( which is why i keep telling everyone i think the mites are a symptom and are attracted to a fungal overgrowth on us). Anyways see if they can do it or not, i was shocked how bad my nose and eyes and pupils glowed green, and my forehead too..also any scars i have also glow that greenish color.. If they use a skin scope they can see the mites or whatever they are, slugs maybe or at least a stage of them before they join into one? heck i dont know, if i did id be making the big bucks to ignore patients,,,lol at least it sounds like you fell into some decent Docs, talk to you later bud.

I was free of mites for about 5-7 days since spreading the DE powder. The mites showed up again last night. I read that mite eggs take 5-7 days to hatch.
I have reapplyed the DE powder.

where would you have gone to get chiggers? I have them around my house but I live in the woods. Your pic does not look like chigger bites. Being in weeds or not.

forests and grasslands and are also found in low, damp areas where vegetation is rank such as woodlands, berry bushes, orchards, along lakes and streams, and even in drier places where vegetation is low such as lawns, golf courses, and parks

I think you got bed bugs, dude. Hire an exterminator and buy a new mattress
