Chicago may ban little baggies

All this really does is give the cops more power. Now any cellophane baggie can be considered illegal paraphernalia just because they say so.

City may ban little baggies[/SIZE]

Fuck the kids, I'm so fucking sick of everyone worrying about the damn kids because there are way too many kids overpopulating the US anyway, I mean come on!! they always have to find an excuse(usually kids)as a means to reason with the stupid war on drugs..

Around here a lot of dealers will just sell dime/dubs in cigarette cellophane burned shut, though the little plastic baggies are pretty common too and you can buy them in any ghetto gas-station/corner store.

Where will i put my Buttons????!?!?!?!!!!!

Funny thing is, i find it great i have some lying around, its so good to put lil things in em, like my piercings or this lil piece of my bracelet that fell off. And once, i collected seashells in one :|

Did banning polystyrene burger packages about 10 years ago stop people buying big macs? :)

lol If I find any laying around my house I tear 'em open and lick them in case I missed any :)

A lot of people on the south side still use paper/vials/foil/etc, simply because the places which sell the little bags are all on the north side for the most part.

Also, this law may sound crazy and harsh, but it wont change anything. If Chicago bans the bags, we'll just go to the burbs to get them if it's that important.

Our mayor banned spray paint within city limits to stop graffiti, but I can easily take a 10 minute train ride to a suburb and buy it there.

The idea that this can happen makes me sick though.

Lt. Kevin Navarro, commanding officer of the Chicago Police Department's Narcotics and Gang Unit, said the ordinance will be an "important tool" to go after grocery stores, health food stores and other businesses. The bags are used by the thousand to sell small quantities of drugs at $10 or $20 a bag.

Um... go after the grocery stores and health food stores for???

Is he trying to imply that's where they sell those things?

And if so, wouldn't it be easier to obtain them over the net like normal people do, anyhow?

I can't stand the drug unsavvy when they try to talk about drugs...

Navarro referred to the plastic bags as "Marketing 101 for the drug dealers." Many of them have symbols, allowing drug users to ask for "Superman" or "Blue Dolphin" instead of the drug itself, he said.

Again, unsavvy.

Someone may have a batch, it may be good or bad, and in the streets (I don't know, I always got stuff in vials unless I was at a rave, and in that case, the bag itself didn't matter one bit). Well anyhow, nobody is going to ask for the bag as some sort of fucking code. Seriously, wtf!? They may ask about what kind of bag it's in to either go after or avoid a certain batch of whatever.

But seriously, grandpa, the only people that are going to be asking for "Superman" or "Blue Dolphins" are people trying to go after a specific kind of E pill.

Prior to the final vote, Ald. Walter Burnett (27th) expressed concern about arresting innocent people. He noted that extra buttons that come with suits, shirts and blouses -- and jewelry that's been repaired -- come in similar plastic bags.

The difference is that those bags are clear and there's probably not going to be much of a reason to search those people just wearing clothes with extra buttons anyhow... I mean, seriously.... and as if they can't just charge people who have RESIDUE in the bags?

Burnett was reassured by language that states "one reasonably should know that such items will be or are being used" to package, transfer, deliver or store a controlled substance. Violators would be punished by a $1,500 fine.

lol... oh yeah, try to get $1500 per offense, or moreso, per every single bag a crackhead or dope fiend... come the fuck on....

Health Committee (28th) said the ban is part of a desperate effort to stop what he called "the most destructive force" in Chicago neighborhoods.

Jesus Christ, "desperate" is quite and understatement here. I mean, aren't those bags already considered "paraphenilia" anyhow?

And aren't there already littering laws in Chicago.

Lame ass law maker. And what? He seriously thinks that giving addicts a fine there's no way they'd be able to pay anyhow is suddenly going to clean up the streets?

"We need to use every measure that we possibly can to stop it because it is destroying our kids," he said.

Oh yeah, so make the PARAPHELA illegal AGAIN under a DIFFERENT law.

THAT WILL TOTALLY ERADICATE ILLEGAL DRUGS IN CHICAGO!

If you don't want your kids exposed to drugs in your neighborhood, don't live in or near neighborhoods or cities known for their rampant drug abuse, for one. For two, don't try to be everyone elses kids parents...

It must be election year for this guy. Tons of other small containers could be used to sell drugs in. Also, since those little plastic bags are so cheap, they could be bought in another city/state and brought in by the millions.

Is it just me or is everyone else also sick of politicians saying all kinds of petty stupid laws (even ones not involving drugs) need to be passed "because of the children". It's crap. If someone wants to have kids, thats fine, but your kids shouldn't affect me or the rest of the US. Be a good parent and watch after your kids instead of banning small plastic bags "for the children".

ha ha, they have som many other things to use besides baggie, that wont stop shit. ive seen weed packaged in ceram wrap thats been tied, many times.

i doubt itll happen anyway. but yeah its gay.

It doesn't matter if they do ban it. Hey anyone in Chicago: send me a PM and I'll mail 'em to ya cheap. :D

honestly who the fuck are these clowns tryin to kid do they really think banning baggies will hurt drug dealing in any way

they'll just use tinfoil or saran wrap or wax paper. infact they do sometimes. i have bought drugs packaged in that on many occasions. i guess theyll have to ban those too these pinheads crack me up
