Chewing gabapentin/neurotin

So I have searched high and low and have not found a satisfying answer. What is the difference in chewing ad swallowing this drug? I have 600 mg pills and thought maybe it'd take less than two hours (the normal peak rate) to hit. Any experience would be appreciated. Thx.
