i once heard in a film the phrase "chew the chew" (as in you chew the chew). it refers to some drug. any idea what?

by the way they were talking in the film i doubt they were reffering to tobacco leaves. coca, possibly. are coca leaves common in the US (i.e. where this film was based)? i have the impression that maybe they were talking about a downer e.g. an opiate. hmmm... maybe not. i take it that 'chew the chew' isn't a common phrase?
