Fairly experienced opiate user here. Done oxy, dillys, hydro, fent. I acquired a bottle of cheratussin for a nasty cough a while back and took about 2-3x the suggested dose listed on the bottle. I have a very small if no tolerance and was feeling the mood lift that codeine has after about 20 mins. This was all good. Problem is what I noticed the next day....
The problem I noticed the next day were the hives(?) on my forehead, chest,upper back, and blotches on my arms. At least I thought they were hives. After a while the blotches turned into what looked like tons of small pimples. Gross. Mind you this is next day, not immedietely after. I didn't know what to do as the rash was getting worse so I saw a doc and he said it was a reaction to something I likely ate. He scripted me prednisone and an antihistamine.
Can such a low dose of codeine cause this reaction? Is it serious? My throat felt fine, wasn't dizzy or upset. Just enjoying a good opiate buzz.
To add to the issue, my connection for oxy is gone and I'm stuck with a bottle of mscontins. I'm incredibly reluctant to take any of them after my incident with cheratussin. Codeine in some people breaks down into morp. If it's an allergy to morph, that'd be scary. I tried a local scratch test on my arm with 1 pill crused, nothing out of the ordinary. Just really don't know if it's safe to even try one....
Any advice my fellow bluelight could shine upon my situation?ever heard of a reaction to such a low dose of cheratussin? I know all opiAtes release histamine with the al natural ones like morph and codiene alledgedly being the worst. This release is often confused with an allergic reaction which I am told is quite rare.
