Chemistry

I'm fairly interested in chemistry, it just seems like the right subject for me. I love being able to understand how things are made and what they consist of and how combining this and this make this and etc. I think that sounds like a good fit for chemistry anyway. What I wanted to ask was, are there any sites on the internet where I can continue learning about chemistry and see if it's really something I want to follow through with and pursue? If I end up not liking it, I love learning about anything in general, so it won't be time wasted as far as I'm concerned.

It really depends how you learn, and what your general aptitude is. All of the structured learning you'll find on Chemistry will be some theory, and a lot of math problems. The math isn't terribly difficult, but it does take practice and familiarization. And there will be times when you're banging your head against the wall, asking yourself what in the name of Antoine Lavoisier this has to do with anything even remotely interesting.

Then again, there are thousands of crystal meth manufacturers all over America who couldn't calculate the molar mass of a molecule if their life depended on it.

If you want to learn about chemistry (as opposed to making drugs or explosives) then look for "TTC Video - High School Chemistry" online. This is a good jumping-off point. But again, I will warn you, it will be tedious at times.

I only just commenced my Chemistry studies at University today, although I have essentially been studying for months now, through pirated e-books and text books; including online lectures and freely available chemistry guides. The scope of my course is already quite familiar to me, so I'm confident. There's no shortage of info online, trust me! The maths is tedious though, but you only have to (very tediously!) learn it once, to benefit from it for life. I'm excited to be my future self!

chemists are a bit unfortunate in the maths they have to do, it doesn't have to be that tedious.

haven't personally used it but was recommended The Khan Academy. It says the videos roughly cover 1st year high school and college material, so should give you a taste of whats to come. am actually gonna watch a few videos myself, revision is always useful- i didn't do chemistry but a lot of the videos have overlaps.
