im on DSP; ramping up on a SSRI again so I asked doc for a few benzos to get through the first week or two... doc gave me a script for 15x10mg valium pills.

now iv got the script here and it clearly reads qty:15, however the sticker on the back of my script aswel as the bottle given to me reads qty:50 (10mg pills).

now is this a !SCORE! or given that this script is PBS is it going to come back and bite me in the ass? I know I can genuinely get scripts but if somehow medicare/my docs find out about this I imagine it would hurt my future ability.

Unless the pharmacist is going to prepare a specific bottle for you, you will simply get given the generic packaging, which in valiums instance is 50.

well I imagine the pharm was -supposed- to prepare a bottle of 15 valiums for me, thats what the script reads and thats what my doctor and I discussed; on the back of the customer script copy is the pharm's sticker with 50 written on it.

lol, not my fuckup; I just don't want to get busted later and possibly cut off from medication I genuinely need due to a black spot on my doc file.

^ your best option is to definitely only take 15 and mail the rest to me.

;)

Honestly though I wouldn't stress over it. Just don't go seeking another valium script that would overlap with that one.

It was their fuck up. I wouldn't worry too much.

Is there actually 50 tablets in the bottle though? It doesn't sounds like you've checked, more like you are just going off the sticker.

before asking the doc for this script I made my last 50 x 1mg xanax last 12 months, he cut me off so I tapered myself and still had 20-30 pills; if I do need another script for benzos I wouldn't be seeking it for another 6+ months so I can't see that being an issue.

definately 50 pills in the bottle, iv counted em a dozen times atleast, upon first noticing I had 50 I felt like rolling naked in them lol.

^ Yeah it would have just been their mistake. A combination of not reading the original prescription closely enough and selecting that medicine in the computer.

When they put the script in, the enter the drug name and it pops up with their options for dispensing and the most common types dispensed will be up the top. Easy mistake there for someone who is tired or not concentrating on their job.

I've had the same thing happen to me with valium. Was only supposed to get 25 and got 50 instead. This was a few months ago and I haven't gotten in trouble. its their mess up.

Don't worry about it. You can always eat another valium to get over it ;)

plus docs still write like 2 year old toddlers with crayons

definatley. I had no idea how in the good old days of handwritten scripts how pharmacists read the scripts. Mus have been alot of mistakes back then.

On a side note, my girlfriend who is american had an american prescription yet to be filled. You should see their scripts. hand written, and pretty plain looking paper. They would be really easy to forge.

There's still a few doctors around who prefer the old pen to paper and fuck is their writing atrocious.

A few months ago this happened to me, except I was prescribed 25 and was given 50. I have faced no repurcussions as a result, I have since filled scripts at that pharmacy (unfortunately didn't get double dosed again though!) without any mention of a mistake and when obtaining a new prescription from my doctor in the time frame 25 should last me (naughty I know) I was never questioned on it.

The pharmacist fucked up, I don't even see how you would get in trouble if it did come out to be honest, it seems like its the pharmacists bad. my guess would be that even if the pharmacist did notice a short while later it would be in their best interests to keep their mouth shut.

If we were talking something more restricted like OxyContin or MSContin it might be a sightly different story.

^ whew wouldn't you be happy if you were prescribed only a few oxy 80s and they gave you 50 instead. i would spend a month alternatively floating between rolling around in bed and having warm baths for a month. it would definately be a party in my brain

even then i think they'd keep it quiet..

unless you were slanging them outside the store lol

its in their best interests not too get those kinds of fuckups on their records, and all medicines are insured or something to that effect anyway.
they'd prolly just write it off as expired.

But don't think you'll get it again either once they figure it out, they don't wanna be charged with diverting medicines for illicit purposes.

Pharmacy error in your favour! Woo-hoo :)

Pharmacists aren't robots so this happens sometimes. Hope I get lucky like this before we have robot pharmacists :(

I wouldn't worry about it as everyone is saying. Pretty slim anything will amount from it, and even if they do discover the error I doubt they'd bother you or the pharmacist about it, unless it was a repeat thing.

Anyway - in the unlikely case of them finding out and tracking you down you can just say you used 15 and disposed of the rest or that you left them at a previous residency or something (you were too busy at the time you noticed the mistake and never got round to it)

Whilst that would be full of win, I think for a couple of reasons I'd be honest about the mistake and take it back:

1) Whilst diazepam might not matter too much, S8 drugs are definitely something they keep a track of and their records are audited by an outside authority. A whole bunch of oxycodone missing from the safe is not good for them at all.

2) And while some might think, 'fuck them anyway they messed up and gave me too much', the next time they do a count of the S8 drugs they will notice it missing and unlike with the diazepam they will put in the effort to find out what happened. It would still be their fault, but I imagine that they would be calling customers or doctors and trying to ascertain just who they dispensed it to.

I've gotten to know a few pharmacys/pharmacists 'personally' over the past few years of getting Oxy, Tramal + Lyrica on a fortnight to monthly basis, couple times I've had like my usual month of 60 tabs (used to be 20mgs, then 40mgs now its 80mgs and I get boxes of 20 X 20mg Oxy as no authorization needed for them, just the 'big lots') have either a script of oxy (10 tabs) either missing from them or extra. Of course on the times I've had ones missing I've inquired and the ones who know me just hand them to me and double check after with a stock take.

I'd say they don't care with non s8 drugs but with the s8s under lock + key usually (I think legally required), I've seen some worried looking pharmacists trying to find missing boxes/scripts of s8 drugs like 40mg oxys etc. I guess the pharmacists as a whole probably mis-give script amounts a fair bit, combination of probably being tired from repetitive work of script filling and maybe 'laziness' heh

Always fun when banker loses with a pharmacy script error in your favour :P *cough cough* *whistle*
