What is "cheese" anyway
Does it even exist?
Is it just a negative viewpoint/opinion?

i guess he's asking if there is any style known as "cheese" or does it just stem from "learned" people's negative opinions of it.
I'm sure 666 think their music rocks, but to me its cheese. they call it hard house (LOL), but i call it shit, crap fucking poo.
What's your take on it?
i embrace some cheese, but not every subwoofer known to man has to belt out pussy whipped.
 
I think cheese is a lot like pornography... you either like it or you don't - but you can't admit you like it if you do, cos the purists who don't have louder voices...

i like cheeze - except what serotone's talking about (ewww!). i cant help it.. "cheese" isnt a negative view unless you dont like it! well okay, maybe slightly..
but i have to say oceanboy, i really dont think its anything to do w/ any part of myself that needs a hug, nor do i think there's any christ of cheese inside or anywhere else.
anyways how can you describe cheeze? its kinda bad, cliched, has a sort of superficiality to it, usually requires little talent to produce, generally has a big element of fun to it. if you want to take music oh so seriously, of course you would hate cheeze cuz, well, its cheezy and has no serious music value. but if you can accept some things in fun, for their fun value and nothing else, and see the humour in it, then cheeze can have a place.
but i would like to repeat again just for clarity: it has nothing at all to do w/ any part of myself that may (or may not) need hugging. and i have not surrendered to any christ of any kind, cheese or otherwise. just so we're all clear on that.

Atomica has described it really well. If you wanted to describe cheese in terms of styles of dance music, I think hard house and NRG music fit the bill. Visit banging tunes and visit the NRG and Hard House sections if you want some examples. But it's not like pornography, in that people who like it feel they can't admit it. I'll gladly admit that I like my cheesy choons, but I'll also admit that it doesn't require as much talent to produce or mix that style of music as say, trance or techno. (And just for the record I don't like pornography)
Now, here's where the plot thickens. Cheese fans can accept that not everyone likes it, and we don't criticise techno purists or trance people for their choice. But techno people really get up on their high horse when it comes to pushing cheese out of the equation. They preach tolerance and acceptance of music styles, yet they really don't accept cheese at all. It's still dance music whether they like it or not so just leave us cheese fans alone!!
On that note will there be a wild things III and will cheese be allowed? *smirk*
