was wondering how often you all changed ya bong water.

at the beggining it used to be rinsed after every session but these days, gone a bit lazy and it tends to be more like once a week..

was wondering how much worse this is for.. if it is

and if it gets you more stoned from your experiences..

i suppose the age of the bong would add to this aswell... if good quality smoke has constantly gone through it. It probably would lace some of the smoke to come?

i dunno it just crossed my mind while having the last cone thought id see your opinions havnt come accross anything on the topic yet...

bong water should be changed after EVERY session, it just stinks too much if you dont.

i really dont think it affects your health or high if you dont change your bong water, its possible you might get stoned if you drank it.

go for it, i dare ya ;)

Actually he`s right, you should change your water after every session, and clean your bong after every(insert number) sessions. I always change water in my pipes if I want to smoke out of them, but I am too lazy to clean them sometimes, a clean bong/pipe smokes a lot better IMHO. I also like adding ice, I like smoke to be a little less harsh.

i try to change daily though it often ends up being every other day or so.. basically when it starts smelling nasty when im about smoke from it

i barely ever smoke outta mine tho. so i might hit it, put the bitch down and not even look at it for 2 weeks. bongs just hurt after youve smoked for more than 10+ years.

I usually would change the water about once a week...after that it just tastes and smells like ass

Word, the best flavour is in clean bongs/bong water. Also, bacterial growth will own you if you fail to change it before algae appears.

Although I have previously cleaned my bong after every session/day, I now think that 'worn-in' smoking equiptment is probably better. I'm sure the health-risks are larger, but it's not uncommon for my friends and I not to change the bong water for about a week or until the stem clogs up. The only exception is 'double-chamber bongs', where the 2nd chamber must be cleaned regularly due to its small size.

The more resin that is coated on your bong, the better. It remains a smooth smoke and rarely tastes any worse than a clean bong, I can't say that it gets you any higher (although it does make sense), but its definately better. I have smoked out of year-old bongs that have never been cleaned (although the stem had been stoked obviously) and had some really nice cones. Please note that I am extremely particular about which bongs I smoke out of, and am only refering to bongs that ordinarily give an above-average smoke.

Cleaning the bong should involve a PROPER hot water flushing, in which the stem is vigorously cleaned with a chopstick while water flushes all the resin out of the bong. Glass and Pyrex bongs should be taken apart and cleaned with OxyClean.

Cone Pieces or 'bowls' can be left in a small glass of coca-cola overnight.
Then get a match and you will easily be able to scrape the resin from your cone. However, both new cp's and new stems make for a harsher session so this should only be done in cases of extreme resin buildup.

.{Glass and Pyrex bongs should be taken apart and cleaned with OxyClean. } Dude the only thing glass bongs should be cleaned with is anything that has no harmful chemicals in its cleaning agents , go for stuff that is more natural than oxy clean (I use to clean my bongs with this till I found out that if the bong is not properly rinsed you can get a a not so healthy toke ) try using denture tabs instead (the mint ones are nice, and they give a little aftertaste of fresh mint), they do a pretty good job if your bong is not too baked with resin. The best bong cleaning products are those concentrated orange cleaners that are made from all natural substances that wont harm your health.

As for changing the water, do it everyday, or even better after every session. The dirtier the water gets the less it filters out the impurities in the weed, thus taking away one of the purposes of hitting a bong. But hey if your just tokign to get high , and dont care about filtering change it however often you like. But for those that want to remove as many toxins as possible use luke warm to warm water, this removes toxins better than cold water. Warm water gives a bit harsher toke if toked alone, so what I do is fill my base with warm water, then fill my chamber with lost of ice cubes. Guys Im telling you there is no better way to smoke a bong, it is soooooo smooooooth.%)

How to actually clean ur glass or pyrex bong, pipe, bubbler, hookah, etc.:

Over the counter products such as Formula 420 and such are great for cleaning it, but ur just paying $5 for a bottle of rubbing alcohal with salt and fragrance.

USE RUBBING ALCOHAL AND GRANULATED SALT. I like isopropyl better than ethyl. Cheap and cuts right thru the resin. Put some rubbing alcohal and salt in and shake vigorously. Be very careful not to bump it against the counter or the sink or whatever. Repeat if necasary.

Always rinse very very thoroughly with hot water so u don't enhale alcohal fumes, yucky.

When I smoked I cleaned mine about once or twice a week. I changed the water every few sessions, at least once a day.

Thats it, blessings

After a while, the water gets saturated with all the nastiness you're filtering out of the smoke itself. So, theoretically, besides the unbearable stink, you'd want to clean out the water because it does an ever decreasing job of filtering out bad things from your smoke. You may as well take full advantage of a bong's three main properties:
1. The ability to cool the smoke
2. The ability to take massive rips
3. The ability to clean many carcinogens from your smoke.

wow a few more responses than i expected. ;)
great to compare smoking habbits/traditions haha

diegoblunt and greenliving thanks guys was interesting posts.

i have smoked with some people that have 4+ year old bongs and refuse to smoke any other, i do agree i seem to get a bit more smashed outa them sometimes possibly due to a good strong resin buildup.
and at the same time come across the people that will throw it out every few months. Keeping it sparkling clean for it's whole short life.

was just interested to know your opinions.. :\

i change the water generally about once a week. i don't smoke massive amounts out of it though, and it has its own little cupboard so it doesn't stink up my living space.
