Changing bong water

i change my water after every session. if im using a smaller piece, like a bubbler, i will change it mid-session sometimes. I also wipe the bowl clean after evrey smoke. Mind you-- i dont clean the whole thing out... just clean the bowl. If i forget, then i invert the pipe, heat the bowl with a lighter, and then wipe it out. a friend of mine used to have a bathroom toilet paper roll mounted in teh living room for this purpose.

I change my bong water after 3-4 uses, but I almost never actually clean the bong. When I used to make home made bongs, I had one bong made from a coke can, I used it for a few weeks without changing the water then forgot about it. I found it a month later and poured out the water, it had big chunks of mold in it.

Any tar solvent solution will work fine. I use an inexpensive product from K-mart used to clean mag wheels and cars from tar and bugs. It is slightly soapy and odourless. Doesn't leave residue (as it can be used on paintwork) and comes in a trigger pack for easy application.

The glass shines like the day it was made after 2 minutes with a bottle brush. No hot water needed.

if u dont clean ur tubes water, then your hit (personally) is going to taste like stale shit... fresh clean water is prime

don't double post u [beeeep]

ahh the mods are going to love you

[Note: It was probably an accidental double post during backup time, it does happen when people have to wait... removed now anyway :) -Splatt]

Mine doesnt have water in unless Im about to use it. Before I use it, I give it a quick rinse (gets rid of any nastyness that may have gotten in somehow) then fill with cold water, followed with ice, and a little peppermint.

Smokes like a demon :)

Ever spilled really old bong water on your carpet?

Just as someone above said, you should change your bong water at least at the beginning of each session and depending on the size of the reservoir you should intermittently change the H20 whist still "bonging". There are a few main reasons for this, but the main one for me is to preserve the taste. If you pull dank B hits through what could be deemed "sewer water" the taste is anything but enjoyable. Fresh H20 enables a lot of the taste to be enjoyed as well.

In college we used to have a 4 footer that sat in the closet until the real "parties" came about, and sometimes pulling that thing out would be like a science experiment...Literally moldy smells and shit coming out of the tube. So I am guessing that my theory here is this: It's a really moist environ, with a lot of surface area and potential "food" for mold. So, not changing/cleaning regularly would most likely set you up for taking a nice mold pull on your next session. And you thought crappy mexican ass cheek weed was bad. LOL.

Just a question: What type of mold would that be? I know some levels of crap schwag come loaded with niceties such as aspergillus and such...is there a chance that these mold spores survive combustion and then actually take up residence in the tube? Interesting.

Oh yeah, and of course the real BIG reason to regularly change your bong water....Have you ever spilled this shit on your carpet? Run!!!!!! LOL. That will kill anyone's buzz asap.

Man, don't drink bong water. It will do nothing but make you puke and your breath be "not that fresh". THC dissolves in fats and alcohols, but definitely not water, so drinking it wouldn't give you any kind of buzz (except maybe the nausea buzz).

Some thc does go into the water. Not much, but some. If you have a bong that only holds a small amount of water, and you use that same water for a while it will collect a pretty good amount of thc. Drinking it would be very nasty and not worth it in my opinion, but I think it is possible to get high from it.

i think when u get too lazy to even change your bong water..... you may have to re-think how OFTEN you hit it.... that said, i like my smoking impliments to be almost medical-grade cleanliness... call it paranoia if you will, but the less impurities i have to intake, the better!

I usually change it after every session, and before I put my bong away I empty it and dry it. Water and ice cubes, that's a fresh way to smoke everytime.

I change it every session (which for me is TINY). I pick up my bong, fill it with water, smoke 2 -3 cones, empty bongwater and rinse to get all the bongwater/floaties out.

Not only is it better smoking a nice clean bong, but in 9 months of smoking it, I haven't yet to actually *clean* it. That's because 2 - 3 cones (only about .2g) isn't enough to even get the water dirty, and I immediately rinse afterwards, which means it never gets the chance to dirty up my bong.

Works a treat :)

Has anyone picked up any lung infections or anything from using really dirty bong water? I'm sure all kinds of bugs and stuff grow in my bong in the summer.

nah never heard of anything like that, i dont often change the water.. maybe once a month if i'm lucky. no such thing as a clean bong

My cat died when someone smoked out of a poorly cleaned bong, coughed and then fell on it. You people are disrespecting the memory of my poor kitty!!

p.s. there was no cat

I thought u all would find this interesting:

(Taken from High Times March 2003)

"It's alive!!! Thats what Japanese researcher Mararu Emoto has discovered about water. In The Message From Water , Emoto has provided factual evidence that human vibrational energy, thoughts, words, ideas, and music affect the molecular structure of water - the wet stuff that composes over 70 percent of the human body and covers the same amount of the planet. Water is malleable; its physical shape easily adapts to whatever environment is present. But its physical appearance is not the only thing that changes - its molecular shape changes too. Emoto has documented molecular changes in water by freezing droplets of water and examining them under a dark-field microscope that has photographic capabilities. He has found that water from pristine mountain streams and springs shows beautifully formed geometric designs in its crystalline patterns. Polluted and toxic water from industrial and populated areas and stagnated water from water pipes and storage dams shows distorted and randomly formed crystalline structures. Emoto even tried using thoughts and words to affect the formation of untreated distilled-water crystals. He typed "Adolf Hitler" and "Mother Teresa" on slips of paper and taped them to glass bottles of water overnight. He did the same for the phrases "love and appreciation," "thank you," and "you make me sick, i want to kill you." The bottles of waters were then frozen and photographed. Emoto's photos show the Mother Teresa water crystals to be glowing geometric stars and Hitler's to be an evil-looking, globby mess. The same goes for the positive and negative phrases.
Our advice: Change your bongwater!"

take it however u wish, but that seems kinda strange to me...

i use my sisters bong occassionally and she's smokes from it every night... the bong hasn't been cleaned nor has the water been changed for almost 1 1/2 years. When she first bought it I would clean it for her... but in the condition it's in now I will not go near it. It was a glass bong... but now it's completely brown. You can't actually see the water in it... that's probably a good thing. when you take out the cone and look down the pipe it is FULL of black mush. I don't know how smoke can even get through it. Filthy shit. Ergh...
when i buy a nice bong, i'm going to give it a bath every week... and change the water frequently. it's just plain dirty otherwise!

^^haha lol........bongs get really smelly as well , sometimes i dont clean it for a month or something and it really starts to smell ....butt when your high al the time you just dont feel like cleaning that damm thing;)
