Your eyes have this way of sliding sideways
When you're making those meta-statements of yours -
"I told her this, and her this"
And I know what you mean is - I'm telling you this.
I pace alone at night, now
Chain-smoking the sky and your lips
Slipping my tounge over my own tears and thinking
That the salt tastes a bit like your skin.
Sometimes, around two or so, it hits me
I'm not yours, won't ever be yours
Won't ever feel your body next to mine again
Except when you slip, and forget to forget me.
Or maybe those times, you're remembering -
And I'm the one whose forgotten.
You hate cigarettes, and so I smoke them angrily now,
One after another, with your name on my lips.

wow. it is very rare that i leave one of these poems having learned something not only about the person that wrote it and myself, but poetry as well. i re-read this 4 more times and printed it. you could say that i really liked it. you could go so far as to say i thought it was great. :D
