Cetirizine (Zyrtec) and benzos, opiates

I recently started using this anti histamine for the first time. I don't intend to take more than 10 mg per day. The pharmacist said it makes less than one fifth of the people who use it drowsy, compared to benadryl which makes more people drowsy. How significantly would this increase the respiratory depression (and other physiological affects) of opiates and/or benzos? I'm assuming it would interact less severely than benadryl, which I know is often used as a potentiator for other sedatives. Can anyone chime in?

Should reduce the itching from opiates at the most. At a regular 10mg dose you shouldn't have any issues whatsoever, and it shouldn't really add any sedation to the equation either.

The respiratory depression is basically negligible for me, and it's among the antihists I heavily use when on opis - I can usually go through 100mg+ of cetirizine in an opi session, I tend to get the itches like crazy.

I personally did not know about this 20% drowsiness thing, so if you're planning on using it for opis, I suggest trying it by itself first a day or two in advance to gauge your own reaction to it.

I love using Cetirizine for opiates itches; it doesn't ruin the opiate high with extra sedation.
