I just wanted to share my positive ER experience because I know so many addicts are afraid to go in and admit what they’re doing. That’s never been a problem for me, I’m not ashamed of the things I’ve done. I might be stupid, but not ashamed and no one can make me feel shame, I’ve hurt no one but myself.
So I had like a idk 6-7 day binging session of IV meth and ended up with a small abscess on each arm by the end of it. I went to the ER on a military base because I am a veteran, if anything I would expect more negativity there given where it is but it’s was a pleasant experience and the dr spent time discussing harm reduction with me and even asked if I’m familiar with the need exchange.
Two anti biotic prescriptions and a sense of relief are what I went home with. No surfing the web googling “abscess symptoms” or anything like that. It looked funny, it felt funny, it could be nothing but life and limb are not worth hiding my extracurriculars from the only people who can help.
If you ever have any concern after IV, go to the ER. Worst case you learn a little and are sent home because you’re being a hypochondriac.
