Okay so her is the situation......

I have a verizon contract phone.... about a year ago I had a 3G phone with unlimited data and when upgraded to a 4G was "grandfathered" in with unlimited data... yes one of the lucky ones I guess......

My phone which is the lg revolution has a mobile hotspot so I enabled it for $30.00 dollars extra per month.... I figured an extra 30 a month for 4g speeds is much cheaper than the 60 bucks for a cable modem or dsl and the speeds where(albiet a lil slower)still comparable so I will save........ plus I get a 25%discount through my company so its even cheaper........

Okay so now for over 10 months no problems blazing fast speeds.... use about 40-50 gigs a month allways at 4g all is good....

Now a little over a month ago all of a sudden when I look at my phone and basically don't use it it says 4G... the minute I connect the hotspot it stays at 4g .... but seconds later after I start looking at web pages(and using kb) my phone jumps from 4G to 3g to even 1x....

I called verizon and after a few troubleshooting things with my phone I was finally transferred to tier two tech support...... I was told they would open a "network ticket" meaning someone would drive by my house area to check the towers and they would be able to figure it out within 48-72 hours.... this was on october 27th...... well I just finally got a call back(voicemail) yesterday 26 DAYS later and was told I have spotty service in my area and there is nothing they can do at this time....

To me this is total bullcrap since for 10 months I have had no problems.....

well since I usually only go online alot with the hotspot at home I thought it was a home issue...(the 4g...3g..1x) issues but lately I have realized no matter where I go if I try to use data(even if its not huge) my phone does this......

I do have the warranty...etc thing on my phone....

I do understand though if I try to upgrade my phone(which I am near the upgrade date) I will loose unlimited data but now I am worried since they have determined that its not a "tower issue" they will not replace my phone....

Side note... the lg revolution is a huge battery hog so I got the extended battery which helped but even with the hotspot on and the phone plugged in chargin my phone dies... this couldve damaged the phone...(the extended battery was from verizon and not a third party)....

SORRY for the long post

but what are my best options for verizon to replace my revolution with another revolution... my phone did not get wet and with them saying its not a tower issue.... what can I say for them to replace this phone which is under warranty.....

very aggravated here since I now believe this is my particular phone and not the B.S. they are sputing!

Comments... suggestions? thanx!

If you have the warranty just call and say you are having a different issue with the phone. Tell them you would like to get a replacement through the mail. More or less they send one out to you and then you return the 'defective' one within X days or pay some outlandish fee. Not a problem just mail it back insured with tracking.

The usual retort of the phone company is that you should just take it to a local store for service. I've always said something similar to, "I've not been treated well there in the past, and they only try to sell me new products." Let them know that they should value your business and it is more prudent for you to do the exchange through the mail.

If given the run around, don't be afraid to keep asking for a manager, or even to be transferred to account cancellations. It sad so much effort is required, but talk their ear off for long enough. They can do the phone swap through the mail, despite the fact lower level reps will claim they can't.

This has worked twice for me, and I feel well justified, at the prices charged, a perfectly working product and service should be expected. Give that a go, and you should be able to get a replacement phone which will correct your issues without actually upgrading and having to forego unlimited data.

Hope that helps.

Sounds to me that they have red flagged you and cut you off from 4G access, easy task for a network technician. I know it's not fair, and they should've been honest about it, but trust me 40-50 GB of data transfer monthly is too much to handle for any cell operator. In their eyes, you were abusing the service.

Let me see if I got this straight, your phone dies even with the charger plugged? A search on the web revealed that this is a common issue, I will give you this link if you'd like to read more about it. Try charging from your computer using a USB port, see if that works.

No I don't believe I am being throttled because of my usage Verizon reps has consistently told me that they only throttle the 3G customers who have unlimited and they will NOT throttle its 4G customers. I asked them about my data usage and they did say while a little high there are plenty of other customers who go much higher than to worry about me.

Also tried the usb which seems to be worse through the computer... I dunno from using the hotspot so much mayby I did damage my phone because the phone gets extremly hot while connected... a few times the phone just reset itself as well... I'm off finally on tuesday I guess I'll give verizon a call!
