So some people are going to camp out on Wall Street next month and some other people are going to stock up on survival supplies for the forthcoming apocalypse.

The headline on my local newspaper yesterday read "Police cracking down on Jaywalkers".... I shit you not.

I have no problem with this, if it is concerning jaywalkers that screw up the traffic flow, as long as it includes an equal intensity crackdown on dumb drivers.

My city has a law against blocking intersections. As in, during rush hour, entering an intersection even though traffic is backed up to it. The law was created rather recently. I've never seen it enforced. As laws go, it's not a bad idea, since it penalizes idiots who decide to block an intersection by entering it even though traffic is going nowhere.

state law uniform throughout texas... Not a bad law at all imo. imagine an ambulance situation would be bad with an intersection completely blocked by some jerkoff...

It just pisses me off when some jackoff enters an intersection, can't exit it, then blocks orthogonal traffic when the light changes.

I hate when this happens to me :(

I mean, when I'm the jerkoff that enters the intersection because traffic is flowing then suddenly stops.

I live in a relatively rural area. Jaywalking is not a problem in the slightest. It frustrates me when I drive to work on the other side of town and rarely if ever see a single cop over there, where all the real gangs/violent crime/drug labs ect are. Yet on the nice side of town every corner has a motorcycle cop writing tickets for people going 5mph over the limit. They are ignoring the real problems in and focusing on what is profitable for them.

IME, you are correct. However, the police presence is more clandestine in the ghetto than in the more well-off parts of town, mostly because the police are performing narcotics/vice stings and are driving more unmarked cop cars; waiting for the first shiny new car they don't recognize. I know that I am watched by undercover cops if I ever go to the ghetto (why else would a white guy like me be in the ghetto other than to score).

When they enter the intersection, is the light green?

Nothing more frustrating than not being able to enter an intersection on your turn, and having to wait for an entire new light cycle just to let congestion (maybe) clear up. All the while, the people behind you are honking and giving you the finger.

There's something more frustrating. Imagine all of that happening, so you flip the drivers behind you the bird, before realizing that the gesture is useless due to the mittens you're wearing to protect against the cold northern winter.

;)

welcome qwe! Sorry for the delay - the staff in her take their sweet-ass time getting shit done ;)

amen brother^^^^. just getting by (which according to US president Barack Obama is the "American Dream").

just wanted to share that ive been listening to a podcast for a few years and it literally changed my life and the way i view and think about politics/news all over the globe. check out NoAgendaShow.com. Theyre on iTunes too. Every Thurs. and Sun they do it 9am PST (12pm EST where i am) but all 340 shows are archived at Noagendanation.com. If you want to realize how much we are being brainwashed and controlled and how our governments (they cover things all over the world, mainly US and Euro) are controlling us and brainwashing us, check this out. Great podcast. Adam Curry and John C Dvorak are the hosts. Its free, they run solely on donations, like Atlas Shurgged, value for value. /end of rant/

$0.02

^It's a right-libertarian podcast, and seems a little disingenuous to call the show "no agenda" when clearly they're pushing a one sided point of view. Didn't Curry even endorse Ron Paul on the air?
