*HARMED BY MYSELF*

Is it mandatory for a health professional to report suspected abuse to women the same way as it is with children?

My concern is that, admittedly while a little high/drunk, (I know, but I'm an opiate veteran), I slipped with my new boots down my back stairs. #White girl problem lol.

Onto concrete. My dear friend on noticing facial abrasions after a fair whack, called nurse-on-call...which led to a trip to emergency.

The doctor I saw felt I was covering up signs of abuse. (I never would, I've been there prev).

As I suffer chronic pain I'm being admitted as an inpatient at another hospital, in two days. For a ketamine infusion. Of which I've had many..

I'm worried that my admitting specialist will a), either have been informed, or b), feel I've not been 100% honest on regard to my background.

Last thing I need is for him to think I'm abusing my meds/being abused by a third party,( I was widowed several yrs ago & hv remained single, with the exception of sweetchildofmine).

So, not sure what damage control I can put into place atm, but I'd never want any health care provider thinking myself or my child are in danger.

I'm in OZ btw.

Mods pls move this to the appropriate section.. I didn't see where this would fit. Cheers.

Tell them what you are telling us. Should be cool shouldnt it? You have not been abused. You DID have an accident. It happens.

Does the ket infusion do much for you? Hows it feel?

^Well no, I can't tell my PM that now .. He'd be sus regarding how it happened whatever my explanation.

He's very recently become an advocate of the border control scenario.

K infusion? Well, I'm 50/50 as to if they help. But is the only option available for my kind of pain.

Feels like walking on marshmallows lol.speech is impaired, slurred.

However, at times infusions have been a godsend !! So let's not diss them just yet ;)

Have you tried them?

At worst the hospital may send a D&A councillor to see you while you're admitted but just stick to your original story which also happens to be the truth. Your main issue from where I'm standing which may be the same major concern you have and that is that when you went to ER you were perhaps obviously intoxicated by way of alcohol and this may have a negative impact on your relationship with your GP, PM doc and your meds. I think you'll be fine RTP. Luckily you weren't more seriously injured, it's fair to say you've broken those new boots in though. And talk about women suffering for fashion. ;)

I fell down the stairs at my apartment once and essentially collected the wall with my face. I had to go to hospital to get my head x-rayed to make sure I hadn't fractured my cheekbones. The result was two massive black eyes and bruising all over my face.

I was separated from my partner and asked to tell them what happened - the ambos made it clear that the talk was confidential and that they were on "high alert" for violence due to the nature of my injuries, but when I explained the story they seemed satisfied. These people are medical professionals - they're pretty good at assessing whether your injuries match your story.

What was the up shot of this situation RTP? Did you encounter any issues or was it all cool? Hope you are well.

Nothing! As I said, I hid it with hair/makeup, but it was cool. Prob more worried they'd call me a "fall risk" & not let me outta bed!!

You are a falls risk you tripper, you insist on wearing those trendy boots! Glad you're ok.
