Get a good brief - thats the mantra you always want to remember, I know of at least two mates who were caught with fairly large amounts of dubious substances, one was loaded and could afford one the other not and went thro' legal aid and kept refusing the brief offered until he got a top fella he got charges dropped on a technicality (he had several 1000 pills plus coke and weed) the other one had a K of hash for personal use ; ) and was in The C.I he paid the right 'fines' and got no record.

Got to agree with blondin here, Swim got done for driving while impaired through drugs--had methadone,vals in temaz in system when pulled but had a good brief who got it thrown out thanks to his persuasiveness on a technicality--i doubt the same would have happened had i a legal aid brief. I also complied, albeit grudingly, with police procedures ie providing a specimin of breath and then blood. It certainly comes down to money in all accounts though, as having more of it equates to being able to shop around for a good lawyer, who can get around/get you off the charges brought using his skills/experience that you would otherwise be unable to get on legal aid. Doesn't make me proud to say it, the systems fucked,

Reminds me of two things. First, how Don King (crooked boxer promotor) kicked a man to death over a few dollars in front of a cop and still got off on appeal.
2nd - that I am technically banned from the U.S for possession of various shit, cocaine was amongst the named substances. With no lawyer or funds me and my girl had a slightly different experience. The cops sexually abused my girl friend and beat me up.

I'm going to have to insist that he did a 4 stretch. He was pardoned about 15 years later whether that makes any difference or not.
I like one thousand words version as it seems rich in detail. My understanding was that he got an initial conviction that may or may not have been 4 years, however, due to mafia type ties he arranged for the appeal judge to be "leaned on" and he got off.
I only watched the documentary once though so I have no confidence in what i claim to remember. More importantly, the cunt aught to be serving a bernie madoff type 150 years for the millions he stole from tyson, holyfield, mayorga etc..

That's some cool shit man. I love it when celebs with rosy image show their true colors. I have to say i'm not a fan of biting unless absolutely necessary - like its a life and death. I've cracked a few people on the jaw in the past, and i'm sure i'll probably do it again at some point. Biting a piece off someone's face is fucking despicable in my book though. The worst one i heard was a keen guitarist who had a finger bitten off while trying to break up a fight in a pub in brighten. Seriously, if anyone ever bit a chunk off me I would batter them within an inch of their days.
Just so you know i'm a pacifist at heart and would never hit someone in a non violent situation no matter how much they pissed me off. But as we all know, most people don't think that. Therefore if some fucker trys to start some shit down the pub I got no issues head butting the cunt in the face. Turn around being fair play and all.

Jimmy White was found by the police to have cocaine in his hotel room after other guests complained of a "disturbance" coming from his room. IIRC Jimmy said it wasnt his. He probably had one of the best lawyers money could buy as he is is a multi millionaire. He got a caution and a fine IIRC. He is still allowed to travel internationally to places like China where a lot of snooker tournaments are held these days.

This is a pretty interesting infographic on how to deal with police, but unfortunately it's for the USA. Would be really interested in seeing one relating to the UK. I'm assuming they would be mostly similar although I think the laws surrounding UK police are a bit more vague. This ex copper uses the words generally and depends on the situation in a lot of his answers, which doesn't inspire confidence.
