I'm fairly sure that u can carry upto n ounce on yourself and get away with a warning and they take your weed of u but if your carrying sappies that counts as posession with intent to deal.
It's like a couple hundred $ fine and ur put on record but then if ur cought again you'll probley face prison.

my mate got caught with 7 grams on 3 seperate occasions after the cops continually raided his house, and he is currently serving 18 months in jail for trafficking. This happened in Qld.
Dont risk sellin it dude. just buy what you need for urself. you'll get a lot less shit and if u get caught its not for anything huge anyway.

It also depends on you age. If you are a minor (under 18) you might get just a warning and it will not go on your record. Look under the Juvinile Justice Act. I got busted for possesion a while ago. As long as you were truthfull to the cops and co-operated with their requests you will probably get a warning.

The fact is that any possession/dealing of drugs is illegal and what happens to you is based on the discretion of the authority figure/s.
That's why there are so many varied stories about people who have been caught and what happened to them.
It's especially hard to answer a question like this with regard to pot. That's because pot is more socially acceptable than other drugs. The practical reality is that if you're caught dealing, it's the individual police officer (and their beliefs re drugs) who holds your fate at their discretion and there are too many variables to give a concrete answer.

if you vivsit the local magistrate court youll see cases and sentencing for this type of offense all day. its more than every second case!

Visiting the magistrates/local court is a good idea.
I have spent a lot of time in one of the Sydney local courts and found that with a lot small drug charges (especially involving pot), the magistrate would let punter off with only a warning.
I even heard a magistrate (a cool one) have a go at the policeman who arrested a girl with 3g of pot, saying that bringing judicial proceedings based on that amount of gear was a waste of money and resourses! She had her car searched and was (perhaps rightly so) argumentative with the policeman. He was clearly having a 'small penis day' and needed the rush of a pointless arrest.
She was also lucky because her parents got her a barrister. I know that not all of us are that fortunate, but it really really makes a difference. The legal fraternity (and it is indeed that, a fraternity) is incestuous and nepotistic and it's good to know that the person representing you knows the magistrate/judge because their kids go to the same school and play rugby together on the weekend.
I know this has been said before, but if you are dealing have a lawyer hooked up before something goes wrong. And someone who is not anti-drugs is definately the go.

North Coast NSW(where I am) police are fairly leniant when it comes to pot.
Never having been caught I'd never know but alot of friends of mine have been and they usually tell me that cops actually critisize the weed they have and on one occasion a cop telling my friend that he should be smoking hydro if he wanted some good shit. Then another occasion my friend had leaf on him and the cop just laughed at him and walked away!

My friend (17) got busted down with a QP and sappy's...
"Possession with Intent to Supply" was the Charge...It was Put on his record, no fine. It was erased when he 18.

Am also in NSW, the penalties for possesion/dealling in NSW are fairly relaxed compared to many other places in the world. Just stay cool, always keep ya buds down your undies. Dont do what the pigs expect you to do, dont become a statistic.

if u have over a g of meth no matter how cut down it is, u can get done for trying to sell, meth is the drug that is most unfair with amounts same with herowin 1 gram.
for pills its 5 pills or more u can get done for intent to sell, the next bracket is 20pills or more and ur in a more serious position and so on
rememeber unless ur big time dealing drugs just isnt worth the bother ud earn more doing a job, and if u are big time ur days are numbered oneday cops r gona raid ur house and then ur fucked no matter how carefull u are. rule is dont deal drugs and dont carry enough to make it look like ur dealing drugs, but even at the best of times this is hard to avoid %)
