Cat rescuing a four-year-old boy being attacked by a dog

Somehow, I knew that somewhere deep down within him, there was a personal octopi story to coaxe out of Shambs. Just a gift I have.

I split the tip of my finger from nail through knuckle the first time I ate squid too. Vaguely related. You name a thing and I probably have a minor anecdote vaguely related to it somewhere.

(for clarity, it wasn't the squid curry that split my fingertip it was arsing about with big sticks and plate glass windows - in my defence i was all of 17/18 and ludicrously drunk)

I cut myself on lobster shell once, on one of the few rare occassions I've eaten lobster...

Had tinned lobster once. Was very young so mother opened tin. Suspect I would have a minor lobster/finger slicing anecdote too if it weren't for that.

Lobster FACT! - Only way to tell the age of a lobster is to split its eyeball and count the rings like a tree.

Persons called Vurtual are not permitted language pedantry! ;)

Fascinating!

This procedure is performed before the creature is boiled alive for tea, presumably?

Dogs are assholes, cats are awesome.

That's why most cat people are lovely and most dog owners aggressive tossers
Spoken like a true cat person. Also wrong. ;)

I don't find them at all creepy. I don't like spidery things generally but despite the excess of legs and freakish movement they ain't no spider. They are amazing creatures. As are their near-relatives squid and cuttlefish. And I thought the former was only good battered and the latter good for bird nourishment. Amazing creatures so they are <3
This ^. Octopi are brilliant beasties.

Pedantry Patrol: i think you'll find the plural is octopodes

And i'm disappointed in you Shambles (alsation sp.) tut tut ;)

Multiple pluralities of octopuses are acceptable in English. Pedantry only applies when there is only one ;)

EDIT: Doh! Duly shamefaced now I see what you are referring to :o

Side note: Had anybody else noticed just how shitey their spelling (and indeed memory) has become since the advent of Google?

I'd consider that a fringe benefit if I were a marine biologist. Some delicious creature

This isnt really worthy of its own thread but sod it... saw this on the news earlier.... never been much of a cat lover compared to dogs, but nicely done cat

video of cat rescuing a four-year-old boy being attacked by a dog.

I never thought it fiond myself saying this but i have had a total change of heart about cats, that story about that cat today/yesterday just clinched it. I never knew that they bonded so closely with human "packs" like dogs are so well known for doing. Apparently that cat slept curled up with that boy when it was a baby. Pure instict to barrel into that dog that was twice its size. Fearless furball so it was. %)

It wasn't fearless, most dogs are scared of being scratched and pussies when confronted by a dominant personality, which cats usually have. Kittie knew it wasn't in any danger.

Odd behaviour for a dog. Seemed as if it recognised the kid and went straight for him. Makes you wonder what that little potatohead has been doing to the dog through the fence for the last 6 months. Looked to me like the only thought going through the dogs mind was "paybacks a bitch ain't it".

Respect due to the cat tho.

young Kids do tease dogs, and dogs do seem to stereotype groups of people such as 'young kids', at least based on my experience with my Dad's dog. He was extremely friendly to me and my Dad but he was extremely defensive, ferocious and snarly towards any and every little kid. There must have been a reason for that. Me thinks some little bastards had been poking him with sticks or something when he was chained up outside a shop for a few minutes or something. They dont fucking forget much dogs, except for when it suits them, they allways seem to remember the way you treated them when you last encountered them, whether you were warm or whether you snubbed them, they fucking remember it and you directly reap what you have sown. They are far more easily won back than people though, they dont go on protracted sulks.

Yeah thats a good point mate

I have been a guest at peoples places who had cats. To me, the cats seemed most aloof, and not at all friendly in the same manner as dogs. They must just have different types of natures or something.

Cats always come and sit on my lap if I'm at somebody's house who has cats. They seem to really like me. Owners sometimes get a bit miffed that the cat who turns its nose up at them (except at feeding time of course) makes a beeline for me and purrs away like a kitten. Apparently I'm a cat in Chinese astrology and have a feline nature. Perhaps. Or maybe I just smell of fish.

That is the link... have a look on youtube, theres loads of the same vid
