Casual hard drug usage?

I was wondering if there were any people out there who've managed to maintain a casual, purely recreational relationship with some of the harder drugs out there (i.e. meth, heroin, crack.)
SWIM has used the above three numerous times, but is still yet to feel the power of their addictions. He is beginning to wonder if he ever will.
SWIM smoked meth once last year, and didn't really get high. SWIM then smoked it thrice in the last two months, relishing every moment of it and having a complete blast, yet has simply agreed never to purchase the stuff himself and has thus refrained from any sort of addiction.
SWIM also uses heroin on a regular basis but doesn't find himself coming anywhere close to spending all of his money on it and finds it easy enough to stop after a week of binging. Perhaps that's because he doses so little.
SWIM also just ended a very long rant. Apologies if going off this long isn't kosher on BL, but SWIM's interested to here some of your stories. From what SWIM has heard, maintaining casual drug use is damn near impossib.e

I used heroin and crack for about 1.5 years while i was at uni in manchester. At the time i believed i was using these drugs in a purely recreational way. However when i look back now i realise i had become completely non functional. I got out of bed and went straight to score and never attended classes, didnt pay my rent and spent 85% of my money on that shit.

I came back homne to Belfast and had a little hiatus from heroin, but eventually was back on it, but this time I was working I kept it casual for a good part of a year, but I felt the addiction boulder gathering momentum. I eventually ended up injecting, on a more or less recreation basis, but reralised at this point i had to stop for a while again. I've been clean for 9 months.

I know a few people that never really got stuck with addictions. I used to shoot heroin and do coke/etc with a lot of my friends, but they were all able to keep it pretty casual, at least in comparison to how i was affected. None of them ever stole shit, got a physical dependency, or spent every dime they made on it. I'm not sure why that happened to me. Then again, they all had real alchohol problems, and I never did, so I guess different strokes for different folks.

strange. i find it weird that i'm one of the few who just can't let dependence take them over. something just stops me from doing a certain amount of damage to my brain or body. i guess i'm lucky? :P
i never really stole, per se (save from stores,) but i rounded up a nice flow of cash by gathering donations for a pledge for some event annd taking that straight to my dealer. ;)

i got shitty dope whenever i did that though. kaaarma

personally i dont believe in taking hard drugs recreationally. I say that as someone who does morphine and percocets daily, but those are prescribed, havent found myself addicted yet, hopefully addiction doesnt run in my family. And im in my 40s so i think my addiction days are over if i ever had em

Pls don't use SWIM ! Some people have and do. One manager used 2grams of very pure HCl during the week. And then went partying at the weekend !

What a total ? I don't know. It was not me !!!

yeah i was wondering what happened to SWIM. even if it is gay, i thought it was more of a legal thing than a preference.

anyway, whenever i google a drug question , it sends me to a thread on BL where SWIM runs rampant. i couldn't tell whether it had phased out or if i was just checkin the wrong threads, but i guess the ones i've been linked to are all archived.
it's got a nice ring to it though :p

I've maintained casual usage with meth, coke, and heroin for about 7 months. Not sure how much of that depends on availability and price rather than my own will power ;):|. Hopefully this trend will continue or cease into non-use and stay clear of dependency.

notice these people all say a couple of years at the MOST?

give it long enough and it will get you. addictive drugs are just that, ADDICTIVE. they take on a life of their own and theres just no way around it.

i dunno. i just find life is much more important than drugs. i sure love my drugs, but it's not hard to tell when they start to negatively impact my life. whenever that happens, it's not too hard to quit cold turkey until things right themselves.

Anything that involves shooting needles into your body typically takes dedication. I mean, you have to locate the needles, then the stash, etc.

Many steroids, heroin, speed, etc.

If you're just smoking it, have at it. You're not addicted.

i suppose, but from what i've heard smoking poses just as much addiction potential as shooting. i've noticed that those who dedicate enough to their drug usage to actually consider shooting something into their veins, however, would most likely have much more of a will to get addicted. there's some lines that i just can't cross - using a needle, and becoming seriously addicted, are two of these.

You can get plently addicted to smoking crack, and heroin for that matter.

My amphetamine/meth/MDMA use is not recreational. I can admit that. I'm a tweaker at heart.

My opiate use? Definitely recreational. Wasn't my cup of tea. I shot dilaudid pills and heroin (not together though). I don't do it anymore, but I've shot up in the past and was able to walk away. Guess I'm lucky.

I use dexamphetamine a couple weeks straight every months, (not binge though, just take during the day, more than prescribed.)

Just did cocaine this past weekend, only do that maybe 4 times a year. I take benzos a couple times a month.... 3mg alprazolam on saturday.

I binge on opiates (mainly hydrocodone) for 3-4 days then run out for 12 days then do it again.

Then on days I don't have drugs I'll drink a 6 pack every night. I haven't really slept sober in a while until last night, but I dosed up on melatonin in a higher amount but idk. Yeah I have done like 5 different drugs in the past week, normally I use 3 different drugs every week, not including alcohol.

I'm a "chipper" for what its worth.

I use to have major major problems with my use... I used a lot heavier in the past with disregard for my own health... I would have let dexamphetamine destroy me... Use to take up to 150mg dexedrine in a day and not sleep for fucking several days, and take benzos to come down on, but at the same time taking opiates the whole time and smoking weed.

Two years ago I was fucked up on drugs all the time. I still am but not as "hard" I guess. Even though I ate 9 norcos 3 hours ago... lol :)
