Hey guys, had a quick search and couldn't find too much info, so I was wondering if anyone knew where is could purchase empty capsules, gelatin or otherwise, in Australian stores. Buying online is not an option right now.

Alternatively, are there any of medicines etc. that I could easily empty and use?

I understand that this may be borderline against the rules but I believe such information could have harm reduction value. Because I have no scales to accurately measure out a dose of mushrooms I concluded that this would be the next best method. Also because I am dealing with mushrooms in powdered form it allows for the strong and the weak mushrooms to mix creating an overall consistent potency.

If the mods find this post inappropriate feel free to delete/move.

you can buy empty capsules in almost any chemist in australia they are usually in the vitamin supplement section :)
 
As posted above, chemists and health food shops are the go...

Be very careful dosing mushrooms without scales. In fine powder form you can easily fit a few grams on a tea spoon!

If you are efficient with capsule filling you may get a gram in a '00' cap so play it safe

I'd say that to have any sound HR value at all, you need a balance. Seeing as a cheap but accurate enough set can bought for around the price of a box of caps, there's really no argument now is there?
 
Sorry pd :\ I haven't really done much research into scales but when I had a look in some homeware stores the other month I couldn't see any cheap digital ones.

I am also convinced that this batch of mushrooms has a very large degree of variance in terms of potency.

Anyway, putting some money aside for a set of scales would be a wise investment its just I'm broke as a joke atm.
 
I got a set of scales from ebay, 0.001 does the job and very cheap hehe... Definitely worth it, not sure how long these ones will last but a must have for me...and you :p
 
dealextreme has cheap scales too though i can't vouch for the quality.... you can get better quality ones from local jewellery suppliers at a higher cost..... to measure semi-precious gemstones of course ;)

As mentioned empty caps are in all chemists, you can get non-gelatin ones too but they typically cost a little more.
 
So what if they fuck up, they're worth poo change.. just buy a new pair, or get a few calibration weights to see how 'off' they are. I'll tell you without any doubt in my mind, the ones sold for stupid prices in smoke shops, are of equal quality. MADE IN CHiNA... i think that line says it all.

lol moderation is hard p_d when you got mods telling people where to go straight out, and disregarding the rules. I think this is a major problem with bluelight at the present time.

However, i don't see this thread as really breaking too many rules blatantly. Sources for scales and measurement paraphernalia should be allowed for its HR value (i mean its the same as syringes right? to measure liquids etc... And we provide information for contact of needle exchanges that provide this service).

If any kind of G head was using and unstable measuring method (eg: tablespoons or teaspoons) we'd jump down their throat with what to do. I see this as very much the same. (and im guessing you do too, since you haven't unapproved the posts)

Naturopaths will also commonly stock capsules. As they tend to deal alot with that kind of thing.

There is also this catering site in aus that stocks caps, and capsule filling devices for doing 50-100 quickly with a substance. Google "cap-m-quik" ;)

Love the double negative! What are these capsules actually made from and is there any harm at all in massive amounts of them being ingested at once? I'm guessing the source of my belly aches would come down more to the fact of so much dry shroom being broken down at once but I only seem to have the problem when caps are involved
 
There would be very little to no harm in ingesting large amounts of caps. It's something all meat eaters have in their diet in large amounts.

I'd be more worried about the large amounts of drugs you're putting in them rather than the capsules themself :)

Has your diet/stomach content been significantly different between eating dry, whole mushrooms and ground musrooms in caps?

It coud simply be as you said. Higher absorbtion rates due to the mushrooms being ground and thus being absorbed by the stomach at a higher rate than whole mushrooms.
 
I buy veggie caps from my local health food store, they have gelatin ones too, but the gelatin ones don't dissolve properly when you put them up your bottom. Veggie ones are the way to go orally or rectally
