every time i pick up my script of pain pills or xanax i just use more and more day after day and run out 3 weeks early and go through nasty withdrawals every month i don't know how to use one day then take like a 2 or 3 day break that would be ideal but i'm not sure if it's possible

honestly that pattern probably wont change...
anytime i ever had pretty much anything i could iv esp cocaine or oxy/heroin i could never ever ration it.... i would just keep doing it till it was gone without stopping

I can identify with you,i run out of my opiate and benzo way early than i originally plan, the pattern was being very difficult to break, but then i considered the money it takes and am a bit able to control my benzo use

If you're going without three weeks out of every four I'd suggest you should see about doing without them for the one week you're using them too. It's debatable what your need of them is if you're managing to go without most of the time surely, and must be a huge contributory factor to your mental state fucking with your brain chemistry constantly like that. Can hardly be worth the one week's worth of relief to have constant distress the other three, can it? Doubt you'll suddenly be able to learn control because of the pattern now established, the addictive behaviour has been allowed to take over and rule the impulse control. All or nothing I think, abstinence or proper management but no useful middle ground to be had from this pattern.

I know you've given some of your prescriptions to your family members in the past; why not implement this for all medications? Then you would never have to go through the severe highs and lows of binges. It's also a good idea to have a family member help you as an external observer determine when you really need medication, so if you are in legitimate pain they can help you out, and if you are suffering but don't need medication, they can talk to you and try to help you get past what you're going through. :)

having my dad hold on to it helps a lot i fight with him about giving me more but i also told him to be stern with me so we may fight but i won't have to suffer like before
