Misc Can't sleep

Your foreign drugs reminded me of what a highly specialized language we speak here at BL.

I have taken American/similar versions of those. I feel we are chemically (rather) congruent, which is vaguely amusing.

I started Wellbutrin about 2.5 weeks ago. C.H. and others are right in that exercise helps. I only run 1x week since I started Wellbutrin. It typically takes me 2 hours to fall asleep. The last half hour I sit in meditation. After, I am asleep in less than 10 minutes! Even smoking cannibinoid doesn't help with sleep.

I also have a stressful family situation about which I ruminate.

Any stressors in your life OTHER than stopping opiate by chance ?

Stilnox is exactly the same as Ambien, they're just different brand names ;)

Also, mami, I started on Wellbutrin 3.5 weeks ago, and I'm no longer having any trouble sleeping. I'm still on 150mg once a day though, and I take it in the morning. Hopefully once you've been on it for a bit longer you will no longer have difficulty getting to sleep?
 
I personally take wellbutrin, and I understand the sleeping troubles you're having with getting used to it.

I personally recommend a nice combo of over the counter shit, since I really don't have much access to benzos.

If my sleeping is really horrible, i take:
50-75 mg of diphenhydramine
2x the recommended dose of valerian
750 mg of magnesium
And then some good chronic

:) best of luck, it only gets better. I've had a really positive experience with wellbutrin thus far, so stick with it!
 
I found Paroxetine (Paxil/ Seroxat) helpful with sleep, particularly if taken an hour before bedtime. Find it the most relaxing and euphoric SSRI, a high dose is like a cross between Zanax and a mild Opiate. Etizolam is my new favourite, when I cant sleep, it knocks my out after 30 mins.

New local prescrbing protocol in Leicestershire, England means GPs are more reluctant to prescribe Paroxetine due to suicide risk and dependance, though it never made me suicidal (just a bit anti-social if mixed with Alcohol) and I could easily jump onto a longer half life SSRI such as Prozac.
 
^especially because it doesn't interfere with REM sleep. diphenhydramine and doxylamine also work well too, and so does lyrica. marijuana is what i usually ingest before i sleep...
 
i like how you think.... but sometimes i crave a hash hit before bed, probably explains why i didn't get good sleep those nights hahaha
 
I got 9years exp here.

Just learn to sleep on your own. Its better to not sleep a couple of days then sleep real (good) sleep then get fake pill sleep every night. Really. Plus you will feel better once you can sleep with out the use of drugs... I mean the less dependent the better. Try ear plugs and a black scarf over your eyes. Works for me.
 
Paroxetine is an AD...so my shrink will hardly give me another AD to help with sleep issues resulting from my other 2 ADs (Lexapro and Wellbutrin). I would have gone onto Paroxetine but apparently it is bad in terms of weight gain? Like how Avanza was with me...Avanza worked great but made me so fucken hungry.

I ran out of Stilnox and prepared for the worst by getting some more doxylamine. Used that for 1 night and barely slept at all. But, bizarrely, my shrink gave me another script for Stilnox. Sweetness. I also exercise (cardio and weights) every fucking day.
 
^Thats known to happen with wellbutrin, due to its stimulant effects. For most people, the more pronounced stimulant effects go away after taking it for a while, but thats not to say it will happen with everyone.

To the OP - I may have missed this, but what time of day are you taking your bupropion? In terms of minimizing its stimulation, earlier is better so it has time to wear off. If you're still having trouble sleeping after a month taking it, you should probably talk to your doctor about reevaluating its use.
 
I've been taking it usually around 8am-9am. Although a few times I have taken it closer to noon. I think that on those occasions it was the fact of having slept until noon, rather than the fact of having taken the Wellbutrin so late, that made sleeping the following night difficult.

My anxiety is still unbearable and I'm not as willing to medicate myself during the daytime. I have serepax but turn into an aggressive, childish moron on it, so don't really want to use it. How long did other people wait before the anxiety associated with Wellbutrin began to ease up??
