i fucked up the big vein on my right arm a long time ago learning to hit myself.
i used to be able to hit this one on the right of my forearm.

i dunno, i can hit my mainline every single time in like three seconds no problem, but it gets sore and i don't like using the same spot over and over.
i never use a tie, i can't take it off without losing my register.

earlier today, i was doing a shot of the residue on my spoon waiting for a new bag, and i didn't want to waste my mainline for a little shitty wash shot.
i ended up puncturing myself in four other places never registering.

my syringes are the ones with the short short skinny skinny needle for diabetics and i'm thinking either one of two things is happening.

i'm either somehow just not getting it in where the vein is, or i'm not going at a downward enough angle.
with these short needles i'm not scared to go more vertical on my mainline because it won't go through, but on these smaller veins i'm always worried about going through the other side so i hit them more parallel and i'm thinking maybe these veins are further under the skin than they look and my horizontal attempts aren't reaching the vein...

i dunno what's going on, but i'm not to big on the idea of being covered in random fresh tracks all up and down my arm and poking myself like 5 times trying to register.

i don't like using my mainline every time. i want to have access to it for the really good shots, and i don't want to damage it somehow, but i can't seem to hit anywhere else.

i'll pretty much try anwhere, except my hand beause i never register and i always end up fucking my hand up...

ideas?

What exactly do you mean when referring to your "mainline"... Mainlining is just a term for IV drug use.. it doesn't refer to one specific vein.. Are you talking about your one good vein that you easily hit? You said, "I don't like using my mainline every time" Do you just mean your old faithful vein?...

yeah, the above is true, but i'm assuming you mean the vein(s) in either crook of your arm when you say mainline?
this is something that's different for everybody, if i can't hit something in the crook of my arm (the biggest, most easily visible vein in my left arm is more or less collapsed because i used it so often) i go for a vein on the top of my thighs, right next to the crotch area.
before that, i'd frequently shoot into my wrists, until i fucked up somehow, my hands were shaking badly. i think i pushed the needle through the vein into a sinew, and injected part of the hit into it, but this is just an educated guess. after that i had excruciating pain in my wrist for days, barely able to move my left hand at all, and was an inch away from going to doctor as i thought i was getting an abcess. but it gradually got better, even though it took about a week before i could use my wrist again without wincing, so be careful.

I love using my wrists and hands. With the short tip 5/16" syringes, going in at a 15-30 degree angle is a pretty easy hit.. provided my veins are showing well at that moment. The veins on my upper arm and especially the ones in the crook of my elbow are long gone.

I'm sorry to hear that. I still have these veins and am careful to let them heal on a regular basis.

When I first started using I was young and stupid.. hah, I had horrible technique and really did a number on myself. By the time I adjusted my IV style and really perfected my technique, I had already really fucked up a bunch of the easily accessible veins.

Damn man, sorry to hear that. I have a friend who lost a few good veins, and after a few years of letting those specific veins heal, they are coming back.

I don't want to give you false hope or anything, but it's always possible they could come back.
