Can't get high ??

As stated in the title, i've been having a hard time getting high for any period of time lately.

My background is military, and I suffer from an above knee amputation, but more specifically PLP (Phantom Limb Pain), as well as chronic back, and leg pain as a result.

My current med are fentanyl patch at 75 mcg/hr and morphine 30mgs every 6hr.

However, like many pain relief seekers, I take way more than is recommended.

I use the fentanyl patch orally, and I know it may sound weird but i've been pretty addicted to it. It's by Sandoz, but's it's not the resevoir patch, its just a film. Now, at first, it did get me pretty sky high, but recently, after taking about half a patch almost sublingually, I can't seem to really get anything from it.

The same thing for the morphine. Although i've recently been on Dilaudid, oxy IR, and others. I just wanted to try morphine and my doc was open to it, since i 've never tried it before I and I figured it might be a good idea, because others didn't work so well. I had gotten up to 100mg or so at a time with the Oxy IR, sometimes twice a day. However, i've been doing up to 180mg of morphine oral, with a glass of water, even on an empty stomach, and only feeling dismal effects and for a very short period of time. I can't seem to get that warm and fuzzy feeling from really anything at all anymore! It's really frustrating, because obviously I run out of my scripts early, and my doc told me straight up that he couldn't only really prescibe things up to 5 days in advance from when the 30 day mark was around, and it's been early for 4/5 months now.

Now the thing is... not to take it for granted, but I can pretty much get whatever I want/need because of my condition calling for it. I mean if you think about it, nobody is going to deny that a guy with a missing leg has pain issues, and I take other things as well. Namely, Lyrica, sertraline, Mobic, Mapap, and Zanaflex (at night only) and 2 other things for constipation.

What is my problem?? I mean, my tolerance just skyrockets overnight pretty much. Soon my doc is actually going to be inserting an electric stimulator in my back to help with the pain, and honestly I do hope it does. Although, I do use some of these things recreationally, I do very much need them for legitimate pain, but I just would like to be able to feel a little more than a bit dizzy and a fuzzy for more than 5 or 10 minutes!!

Stresses me out that I can't. I am wondering, what or how much more do I need to take? Is there something that specifically enhances these? I used to take Ketamine, and tried to take white grapfruit juice to get a k-hole but unfortunately I ended up using my whole bottle 10ml/10mg total of 200mg per 20ml in each bottle. I used one whole bottle and about 2 more 1ml syringes sublingually, and it barely did anything to me... was pretty disappointed on that one.

Any suggestions? I feel like I am taking so much, but barely getting dismal effects? Sometimes I will get a nod from the fentanyl at night, but I think it's just because i'm tired AF anyways.

Help and advice is appreciated, from a fellow pain sufferer.

Thank you

If you've been taking fentanyl regularly then your opioid receptors are "maxed-out". Fentanyl is the most potent opioid pain med available (even more potent than Opana). You're not going to be able to do much as this point to increase your response to opioids. What I would probably do is take a break from opioids and just take Tramadol, Lyrica, Gabapentin, etc. for awhile for pain management. I would give it a good couple of months to hit the reset button and then try again with percocet or Norco.

As in.. Ask my doc to do a detox?
I've been through fentanyl withdrawal before and it's a demon. I lasted 7 days. After 5days I felt ok, and I was just taking 600mg lyrica twice a day to almost completely mask most of the major side effects but I would only sleep 2-4 hours and then wake up with that anxiety attack feeling and run to grab my lyrica to help. Some time I'll have some extra pain meds of different things like methadone(long acting) or quicker stuff like oxy or dilaudid. But on day 7 it Hit me like a train, suddenly lyrica did not help not even the phantom pain in my leg and at full blown no meds, I am literally on the ground waiting for my leg to kick around uncontrollably and gasping in pain, along with the rest of the effects... Terrible thing and I wouldn't wish it on Satan himself.

But there are no heard of enhancers or vitamin reups that it depletes or something?

Also.. Kind of off topic but lately I'm getting these full body jerking movements kind of like a 1second seizure. Kind of freaked me out but I feel fine otherwise.

I feel like it is serotonin syndrome maybe? Any thoughts ?
I know very well about the effects and harms etc no need to grandfather this post, just looking for some constructive opinions.

Appreciate it, thank you!

Anyone have an idea as to what I can do to enhance the way I am doing things or ideas about the medications that I take, that could me feel a good or somewhat lasting effect??

Feeling lost and without pain relief unfortunately. I am pretty set on the patches, but as far as instant-ish relief, any ideas?

Thank you
