I am a brand new user to oxycodone. I'm taking lexapro, buspar, seroquil, and neurontin. I chewed 20mg of oxy but nothing has happened- why?

People do not use the term SWIM on BL. It is against the bluelight user agreement.

As far as oxycodone tolerance:

There is no ceiling in terms of tolerance. 5mgs will do alot more for some people than 200mgs for example.

I am in no way giving dose advice or medical advice. Just information.

As mentioned, brand new to oxycodone is meaningless. Are you brand new to opioids?

If so, 2.5mg can easily be felt of oxycodone, if you are non-tolerant and not feeling 20mg, that's a bit odd. The first time I took 5mg of oxycodone when I had only occasionally been taking 10mg of hydrocodone every now and then, it rocked my world for 14 hours (this was percocet too....). Are you trying this for pain relief or recreational use?

As for tolerance, now 20x that 5mg dose wouldn't really cut it. (Edit: To clarify this dosage was meant tolerance wise for me as an example... not a recommended dose for anyone)

If you are a brand new user then 20mg should be more than enough for you to "feel it". Regardless of what was said above I would be very cautious with increasing your doses. Do you or have you ever taken any other opiate/opioid/pain medication?

This. There is a cross-tolerance between all opiates/opioids, so we need to know if you've taken other opiates before even though you haven't used oxycodone before.

If this was truly your first opiate experience then 20mg should have been more than enough to get you high which is why I'm hesitant to suggest a higher dosage to a beginner. It could be that you just didn't enjoy the high from the oxycodone. Also, for some people it takes a few tries before they get high since they are learning to embrace the right effects and not the negative ones.

afaik, 20mg oxycodone only come in the pretty much abuse-proof oxycontin. If you chewed one of those instead of instant release medicine, it's no wonder you didnt get high. you basically ate 2 percoset 10s, which is a pretty low dose imo. also, with me anyway, oxycodone gives me energy and euphoria, unlike all other opiates (which act like opiates!). There are numerous reasons why you didnt get high, I suspect it may have to do with the other drugs you are on.

There is still a lot that we don't know. Also, there are 20mg instant release oxycodone pills (search 'k 57' and you will see), or they could have chewed some percocets. If they did either of those two rather than taking the 'OP' 20s then they should have gotten high. But then again we don't know about their tolerance yet.

Different people have different chemical makeup which results in various responses to various substances. It may just be that oxy doesn't cut it for you. I've heard of people that cannot get any relief from morphine, period, not even IVed. They must be given dilaudid for surgery. Though the percentage of people that have these issues is extremely rare. It is plausible though.

And there are also people that don't find some or all opiates euphoric. Like for me I don't find morphine to be euphoric at all, although it definitely works for pain for me. Some people just feel drowsy from opiates and don't get euphoria from them, so perhaps the OP is one of those people. In that case they should just move on instead of continually trying to get high from them which they may end up regretting if they eventually start to enjoy them and then get hooked on them.

I think I should mention I know a person who could not handle a 5mg percocet tablet. It was a family member and it was a bit much for him.

He his highly sensitive to medications.

Long story short. He threw up and stuck with tylenol.

So its important to remember that every person is unique.

10mg oxy extended release still gets me plenty high.
maybe your extensive list of antidepressants are blocking your mind to feel the effects of oxy.

or maybe its a matter of learning to appreciate oxies effects and go into the high?
either way, i would be careful upping the dose.

not sure how much oxy is needed for a non-tolerant person to OD,
but it's something you don't want to find out by experiencing it.

I would guess for a non-tolerant user, 30-40mg orally would easily make you puke without anti-emetics. Any more would get in the dangerous range (especially IVed or orally with anti-emetics). This is just my guess.

Also for non-tolerant people (when I was non-tolerant) I found oxycodone especially euphoric. Also, with a low tolerance or multiple 80 mg OPs, they're good and last forever if you don't need a rush. I always prefered IR oxycodone with no tylenol which IMO is the only way to take oxycodone (roxy/roxicodone).

I have not taken any sort of opiate/opioids in the last year besides for pain at the hospital. I'm a heavy drinker (currently dry), female, and 100 lbs. i chewed 2 10mgs last night, then snorted a half of one. i was itchy and kinda felt like i was on speed for maybe 5 minutes but that was it.

also, i am experience this "balloon head" feeling when i over exert myself. its unsettling. i feel like my head will explode

Hi! Are you taking this for recreation or for pain relief? If you need it for pain relief, then I would suggest you talk to your doctor (assuming this was prescribed to you) and either increase the dosage or switch to something that works better for you. If you are doing it for recreation, then just switch to something that DOES get you high.

Cheers, Taz
