Cannot get Gelcaps

So, I tried to get empty gelcaps today to send in a sample. The Walmart pharmacist looked at me like an addict and said (with a bit of a negative tone), "Try an independent pharmacy," as if to imply, "we don't like your kind here in this family store."

I went to an independent one, and she asks me, "What do you need them for?"

What kind of question is that? What do you think I need it for? I Was caught off guard by the stupid question, so I said, "To ground up my pills into a powder and put them in. I have trouble swallowing large pill."

She said "Technically, they require a doctor's prescription or note."

So I once again slunk out of the store feeling like a member of the bottom rung of society.


Any suggestions?

Try a health food store they usually sell them or get them online! First time Ive heard of anyone being questioned for buying gel caps :0

This is in the wrong section though - this section is for Ecstasy testing q/a's.

i dont think you do, i think she just sounded suspicious of what you would be using them for and talked out her arse. why would you need a prescription for something that isnt medication, just a means of taking medication etc.

AH! A health food store. Good diea. I can then say, "Well, I want to put my wheat germ in gelCaps" or some bullshit like that.

Also, how is this in the wrong section? I am specifically asking about an aspect of getting a pill sent in and tested. I mean, where else would I have posted this?

good idea, health stores should def have them, but if they dont, try the pharmacy again and say that exact line, i really cant see the need for a prescription for them, they arent medicinal or anything like it.

I'll tell you how NOT to do it --

(Disclaimer - I really am very intelligent, I just had a brain cramp for a moment)

I emptied out of of my Lyrica gelcaps. But there was a lot of residue. I was standing right next to the sink, so I figured, "I know, I'll rinse it out thoroughly!"

FAIL.
 
^That's exactly the thought process I envisioned. I can't see any way to clean them without getting them wet.
 
could probably clean your lyrica caps out with a cotton bud, but its so much effort for something that can be bought, just need to find where in your area.
 
I think you can clean out gel caps with pure alcohol as it will not dissolve them.....tho that seems like so much work when they are widely available online and at health food stores.
