I was wondering this during my visit to the dentist. Since cannabinoids have antibacterial activity they should, in theory, be just as good as Listerine if applied in a vapourized form to the mouth. (read: smoked)

Does anyone here have any experience with improvements (or declines) in their oral hygeine or presence of cavities thanks to marijuana use?

Studies show an increase in the risk of developing periodontal disease with chronic cannabis smoking. Some of this is attributed to the lack of salivary flow which is a side effect for many. Saliva is extremely beneficial in good oral hygiene as it constantly washes bacteria off the teeth and gums. Saliva also contains antibodies.

With cannabis smoking, it's even more imperative to keep your brushing and flossing a regular activity.

Smoking in the morning makes my breath smell especially bad, but after mouthwashing not bad at all, as if bacteria was eliminated after the mouthwash and smoke made it worse only if it's already dirty.
