Its been announced that Denmark has changed its laws so that Sativex, the MS treatment which is manufactured from the much maligned cannabis plant, can be licensed and sold there.

Denmark’s Interior and Health Minister has approved Sativex even though cannabis itself remains strictly controlled.

Sativex is a first-in-class ‘endocannabinoid’ (cannabis-based) system modulator for the treatment of spasticity in MS. It is delivered by a spray that can be delivered into the mouth either onto the inside of the cheek or under the tongue.

At this stage I know exactly what you are thinking. Cannabis is a dangerous drug which causes mental health issues right? So surely GW Pharma must have 'brewed' the dangerous bit out?

Well apparently not.

Sativex IS cannabis, gently warmed under pressure with liquid CO2 then enthanol is added and an oil is precipitated which contains all the cannabinoids, terpenoids and other substances present in the plant.

Don't let anyone tell you different. Sativex IS cannabis.

I did not know this. I thought they were merely extracting the THC and CBD.

It appears big pharma has patented marijuana after all :p

thats interesting. Wouldnt that be impossible to get approved anywhere, because they have hundreds of unknown and unstudied cannabinoids also being extracted from the plant. While THC and CBD are the most present, there are dozens if not hundreds of other cannabinoids in cannabis. I thought all psychoactive or active constituents of medicines had to be studied or at least KNOWN????

I that that "Sativex" stuff is like a super concentrated extract of the pure cannibinoids and all the other stuff in the cannabis plant...basically they made a pure 100% Full-spectrum super purified extract?

anyone got any info on that is in this "sativex" (sp?) stuff???
thanks.

Irie-eyed the jedi~~ :)

^thats kinda what i was getting at...because all of those other cannabinoids and cannabis constituent would be considered impurities....if CBD and THC were the "active ingredients" . that would mean it has psychoactive impurities...not something i want in my Rx medicine.
