Medical marijuana is gaining acceptance, but could it even help kids? Dr. William Courtney has seen it happen, and on Friday, told HuffPost Live host Alyona Minkovski about it. Saying he was "quite a skeptic 5 or 6 years ago", Dr. Courtney continued that "my youngest patient is 8 months old, and had a very massive centrally located inoperable brain tumor." The child's father pushed for non-traditional treatment utilizing cannabis.

"They were putting cannabinoid oil on the baby's pacifier twice a day, increasing the dose... And within two months there was a dramatic reduction, enough that the pediatric oncologist allowed them to go ahead with not pursuing traditional therapy."

The tumor was remarkably reduced after eight months of treatment. Dr. Courtney pointed out that the success of the cannabis approach means that "this child, because of that, is not going to have the long-term side effects that would come from a very high dose of chemotherapy or radiation... currently the child's being called a miracle baby, and I would have to agree that this is the perfect response that we should be insisting is frontline therapy for all children before they launch off on all medications that have horrific long term side effects."

^ More reading.

The evidence is definitely mounting in favor of cannabis oil protecting against and even curing cancer. With how well documented, and lacking traditional treatment ( unlike this case )this is I feel it deserves some attention. Some more reputable news organization should be reporting on it as well.

Not entirely sure this belongs here. I'm bored and I'd rather post it here, though. feel free to move it.

Unfortunately most of the medical community and government will refuse to look at this until it’s an FDA approved medication doing it.

So much spam in the article's comments. It seems that any story about cannabis oil deploys battalions of spambots.

^indeed.

It amazes me how little attention this is getting. I argued with someone with regard to the other story I linked that the cannabis oil probably did little more than fight nausea and perhaps strengthen his ability to cope with oxidative stress, giving most of the credit to the chemo. Lol.

Would this type of "cannabinoid oil" get you high when injested? I don't like being stoned(on pot) but I guess it'd be worth it if this really worked.

^ yes. It definitely contains decarboxylated THC. The tincture also contains high levels of other cannabinoids particularly CBD that may alter the experience, making it less anxiety ridden.

I've read numerous subjective reports just scouring the web, I'm sure you'd be able to do the same.

Hey, why can't they make a THC/CBD pill and patent that? I know that the other cannabinoids may have played a role but if a THC/CBD pill was effective, could it not be patented? Patented Vicodin contains hydrocodone and acetaminophen does it not? anyone?

THC is patented... Dronabinol AKA Marinol

THC/CBD is as well... Nabiximols AKA Sativex

Other noid that is patented:

Nabilone AKA Cesamet

Marinol is cool because you can fortify weak weed with it... It is THC in sesame seed oil.

It is 10 mg pills you can easily turn mint leaves into a blend...
