A month ago, I got the very worst gastroenteritis I ever had in my life. The pain was the worst part of it: very intense, unbearable, tear-inducing, engulfing me for 10 minutes, every 30 minutes, for hours and hours, like clockwork. The second night of suffering I remembered that cannabis is an anti-spasmodic. I didn't knew how strong an antispasmodic it was though. I was not really hopeful, due to the strength of the spasms I was feeling, but tried anyway (nothing to loose right?).

It was a miracle.

In 10 minutes, I became pain-free for the 8 following hours. It killed 95% of the pain, not 100%, therefore I was still aware of the coming and going of the waves of pain, but they were now so small and remote that I hardly felt them. I was able to have a long and peaceful sleep. No more gastroenteritis without cannabis for me now :-)

Am I the only one who tried this?

Worked fantastic for my gastro!!

Gastroenteritis (24-hr variety?) just went thru our house. Kids first then hubby then me. I decided if I was going to feel so miserable I might as well have a puff. In the back of my head I was thinking it may also help my nausea/vomiting and muscle pain. I use a vaporizer and took a puff....I kid u not, within 30 seconds my nausea and pain abated. This lasted an hour and I repeated before retired to bed very early. I'm now 90% improved the next day....14hrs later...hubby is still very under the weather ....over 24hrs for him

Hey, I am happy it worked for you too :-) The anti-spasmodic action was the most useful for me, but the action on nausea is also welcome in that situation. It is a pity so many people each year go through such a common infection without having access to that great relief source. No pill I took were ever that efficient ...

I am curious, is it inefficient on your husband, or did he refuse to try?

Thanks so much for this info. I knew it was good for chemotherapy type nausea but I never thought to try it for food poisoning. I'll keep that in mind!

This is why people with Crohn's diseasae, irritable bowel syndrome and other diseases of the gut find cannabis gives more relief with fewer side effects than many other pharmaceuticals. Crohn's disease in particular can cause debilitating pain that may very well ruin a person's life, whereas cannabis when smoked, vaporized or eaten can make them able to function like a healthy person with no pain. It truly is amazing when you see it first hand. The pain before and relief after is fascinating to watch because it's so marked.

Add to this it is one of the least toxic substances known to man and you have something very special. Imagine feeling like you felt all the time and the only thing that really helped with the pain with few side effects was cannabis but a few politicians behind closed doors who know hardly anything about cannabis continued to keep it illegal just to appear tough on crime and garner a few extra votes. You would start to feel alienated by society and oppressed by the state and would start to have even more contempt for the law in general.
