First: I apologize for the long delay in responding.
AND
The treatment cured the cancer. I've been cancer free (confirmed by a biopsy every six months and an MRI annually - I have a biopsy scheduled in April).
A combo of mitomycin-C and 5-fluorouracil.
The mitomycin was a large bolus injection and the 5- fluorouracil ("5FU") was administered using a portable pump, the size of a camcorder from the 90s. It was delivered over 96 hours.
I also had intensity modulated radiation therapy five days a week for eight weeks.
I only did two rounds of chemo, once at the beginning and once a week before treatment ended.
It turned out that I had very little nausea. One hour before the bolus injection, they gave palonosetron IV. It's similar to ondansetron but lasts 48-72 hours.
As it turned out, lack of appetite was the real challenge. Cannabis helped with that but not entirely. I still lost almost 40 pounds (all gained back at this point).
I am responding because I want to thank you, and because this thread may help others.
Peace
