A lot of people see pot as a chill-out feel good drug. A lot of people refuse to recognize that it is a psychedelic, that it causes beautiful visuals, and that it can be as intense as most other entheogens. I just thought I'd share what cannabis does specifically to me for these people, and anyone else, perhaps people who have yet to try it and could use a thorough bulleted list of effects (not that there aren't enough of those already)

Dosing: Vaporized (180C) several hits makes for a medium-high intensity trip. Onset 10 minutes, peak lasting 1 hour, plateau lasting 1 hour, effects trailing off until sleep. A couple dozen hits sends me to another world, filled to the brim with chaotic and deep visuals

Salient effects:

* Somatosensory: Some parts of me are falling, faster and faster. Other parts are accelerating in large curved-loops. The acceleration can get to such a point that it feels painful, and I am breaking up. Then all of a sudden I burst onto a new level, sort of like a vehicle switching gears. Now I'm going even faster but it's smooth, but still i am accelerating more and more, and I am getting more and more uncomfortable, until I burst onto a new level again

* Visual: Anything that I am able to conceptualize, can also be vividly visualized on the drug. The visuals usually consist of patterns, color displays, and imagery, all blended with eachother and with my thoughts (eg, intentionally thinking of the color yellow will cause my visuals to take on a yellow theme). Sometimes, a conceptual thought can be "converted" into a visual image, and vice versa. As my mind's "read/write head" (like on a disk drive) floats through my preconscious memory, the imagery before me is continuously fluctuating and morphing. The images can be normal-looking, beautiful, memory/thought evoking, amazing, or just downright bizarre and disjointed. Sometimes, it feels as though i am supposed to be seeing this imagery in this state of mind, as if I am witnessing a divine visual symphony constructed for my pleasure

* Thoughts: Mentally, I am stimulated, with many thoughts racing through my head at once. I recieve memories from many years ago (including childhood) that I thought were lost. My state of mind seems to be similar to how it was as a child, basicly a reversion to a state of both simplicity and wonder. Reality feels extra real and it feels like I am "home" (whenever my marijuana trips start, I get the feeling of "welcome back"). I feel priveledged to be alive and experiencing it

* Cognition: My short-term memory, during the intense peaks, is thoroughly shot. I cannot remember 2 seconds earlier, and since everything about my reality is fluctuating so wildly, I cannot predict 2 seconds into the future. I am completely "NOW". However, my cognition is also 'lubricated' in the sense that it is more abstract and loose. In this wildly different state of mind, I can come up with ideas and solutions which would otherwise have been blocked. Marijauna has been a useful tool for everything from programming to calculus

* It’s as if there is a winamp equalizer for my brain, and the dials are all separately going up and down randomly. In this state of mind, with certain aspects of my reality-producing machinery 'off balance,' I can gain much insight into the ways I think. I experience information processes streaming, as if from a computer, and influencing my state of mind. I experience the "gears at work" creating my consciousness

* Reality takes on a physical-spatial-mathematical feel, and my experience of external reality becomes more "objective" in this sense, with the raw physical nature of reality starkly presenting itself to me

* Perception:: My visual and auditory senses are enhanced. I hear things I normally don't (people opening the door to the backyard, the dogs ruffling the bushes, people out on the street) and colors are beautifully vibrant and lucid. My appreciation of art (both visual and music) is significantly increased

* Horny, holy, and hungry all at the same time: My decision-making process takes on a hedonist nature, and this causes many of my experiences to be (in my sober opinion) "wasted" on the munchies or satisfying certain other drives

* Side effects: Pretty much zero side effects. Water negates the dry mouth, visene negates dry eyes (which rarely occurs). However, I am much less sociable on marijuana since I am so intensely geared inward

Conclusion:

* I don't know why others get an alcohol-like buzz from this, yet with a few hits I am thrusting into the sky watching imagery that seems divine. In any case, for me at least, marijuana functions as a fascinating and powerful entheogen, and every trip is completely different

* Having experienced absurdly intense trips with Salvia, mindblowing trips with mushrooms, beautiful trips with MDMA, disjointed trips with DXM, and a host of other drugs, overall I still rate cannabis as one of the top entheogens there is. I advise you not to get a tolerance and ruin it

How often do you use?

Not often i would say, you have a 10 minute onset, thats a VERY long time for pot!

I feel it 10 seconds after the first hit.

My first time was my most amazing drug experience and i do agree if not abused it can hit you like thunder!!! Thunder baby!

^i also feel it that soon, it just takes 10 minutes to build up. i must not have been clear enough

varies from every day (rarely) to once a month (rarely). usually about once a week

Wow, I sounds like the THC realy effects you! I know what you mean about the build up; sometimes it can take 20 minutes to realy start happening with a very large dose.

thanks for that post! I'm a rather infrequent user (a couple of times a year and at irregular intervals) but my experiences usually have a lot in common with what you've described. occasionally I'll have a session with a few mates but I think I enjoy it more on my own. music is very important to me, and I highly value the experiences I've had while sitting down to some nice techno, idm etc.

Somatosensory: Some parts of me are falling, faster and faster. Other parts are accelerating in large curved-loops. The acceleration can get to such a point that it feels painful, and I am breaking up. Then all of a sudden I burst onto a new level, sort of like a vehicle switching gears. I think I can relate to this. usually eating or drinking something will trigger it, but not always. for example, I'll be chewing something and the sensation kinda takes over almost to the point of being painful (but not really in a bad way) and then it, well... bursts (good word for it). there's a feeling of movement - travelling pretty much in the way you described. the higher I am, the more likely / often this will happen.

my visual effects during these trippier moments are usually vivid patterns, but I never get much else and I've never noticed my thoughts guiding what I see. the patterns appear on a large flat plane way out in front of me, sort of like a giant wall that goes on forever in all directions.

my thoughts will sometimes be very profound. it's like I'm discovering the real meaning of something... very euphoric. I actually think sometimes these thoughts are linked to the song I'm listening to, eg. if I were to listen to the song again another time I would have a similar idea, haha. I don't think I would be any good at trying to do maths though ;)

also, my whole experience is very much linked to the music I'm listening to at the time. I usually put on a visualisation (milkdrop or an oscilloscope works fine) which can help but I'm not always paying attention to it.

great report! i think a lot of people experience what you do, actually. i know i can relate to a lot of what you said (not rly anymore, due to tolerance or that im used to it, idk) but i definitley know what your talking about with that whole levels and blast thing. it gets really intense sometimes! i would just describe it as being on a rollercoaster or being shot from a cannon, but your right you do "change levels."

you seem to capture a not so easily describeable experience very well.

I know the feelings are just like that too. Great in-depth report!

This post has me thinking that I should stop smoking for a long while until I grow and finish some plants then when harvest comes I will have gotten rid of my tolerance (hopefully) and enjoy it like my first time.

I usually have access to only (or mostly) Indica strains, I will grow a near pure Sativa and perhaps I can achieve effects like you mention. I always get very malluable CEV's with cannabis, haven't gotten OEV's since my early days.

Good report. If it can inspire Don Luigi to take a break from marijuana, then it must be some seriously potent stuff! Whiskey and Weedbert give it two thumbs up!
Okay, I'll stop being a ninny.
I mean jack-ass :D

somatosensory! yessss i love those effects.

you describe my sought after cannabis high quite well!

been on vacation for 4 days havnt blazed, you may have just inspired a long break!

I love getting that high. I usually never get like this anymore though, tolerence is a bitch with weed

I've stopped smoking every day and now only smoke once a week or so, so I can definitely feel where you're coming from.

Even if I smoke shitty pot now, I get some slight psychedelic effects, and when I smoke good pot, it's light tripping. I feel the psychedelic effects best when I'm either laying down listening to music with my eyes closed or outside walking around on a really sunny day examining all of the scenery.

I used to get an alcohol-like buzz when I was smoking large amounts every day, though.
