Hi you all

I have serious pain from a back injury. A year ago I started using Tramadol and it took me months of slowly tapering to get off it. I'm almost of the Tramadol which leaves me with the original problem, PAIN !

I tried Kratom with no effect. I have never used Cannabis and would like some advice.

I cannot smoke so I have to consume it another way.

I did some research on brownies and tea. Sounds too complicated.

My question is: Why can't the dry product not been crushed/grinded and put into capsules. Will it have the same effect ?

Thanks a lot

It needs to be heated up for the THC in the bud to be released (not sure of the exact temp). That is why it is smoked or baked in edibles.

The biggest problem with just crushing/grinding and ingesting is due to the properties of the psychoactive chemicals in cannabis. THC and the other cannabinoids must be extracted from the plant before they can be absorbed by the body, smoking is one way, making brownies/tea is another.

If you live in an area with medical marijuana there have been a few companies working on capsules that contain extracted cannabinoids, pretty much hash oil in a capsule. If you don't live in such an area you could talk to you doctor about Dronabinol, which is a isomer of THC that can be prescribed in the US. However, it's mainly marketed for reducing nausea and many patients say its effects are unpleasant compared to smoked cannabis. Also, because it is only THC it probably won't work well for pain as other cannabinoids( CBD, CBC) are thought to be the primary chemicals responsible for the anesthetic effects found in cannabis.

I did a quick google and found a few guides for making capsules with active cannabiniods at home but the process is fairly similar to making brownies or tea and maybe even more complex but if you're interested just google "cannabis capsules" and do some reading.

Is there a particular reason you can't smoke?

You could technically just eat it raw, but it would be a gigantic waste. There's really nothing complicated about making edibles; other than the job of cooking the cannabutter, it's pretty much cuisine as usual.

As others have said, you cannot just put the raw materials into capsules and pop them. The active substances in cannabis are not water soluble and require some sort of heat to activate. So if you eat straight weed your body cannot alone process the active chemicals in a way that allows them to cross the Blood brain barrier.

It has to be extracted in some way and THC is very soluble in fats like oils and stuff.

Easiest way thing to do to ingest it is mix it with natural peanut butter and make a peanut butter sandwhich, wrap that in tin foil and put it in the oven at like 275 for 15 min or so.

Thanks you all for taking the time to respond.
Ok I got, you need to heat the stuff to get it going.
I like the peanut butter idea. What about heating a whole jar of peanut butter in a pot, add the right amount of cannabis to it and cook it for a while. Then let it cool down and put it back in the jar in a fridge. Then I can consume a few spoons full as needed or put it on a sandwich etc.

Can this work?

Yeah, but instead of doing it on the stove in a pot just cook it in the oven.

Just take your peanut butter, put it in a pyrex dish, mix some thoroughly ground up bud in there, cover, and bake for awhile (I don't know temps / time limits off the top of my head, I don't want to give you a number and be responsible for a burnt end product.) This really isn't a preferred method because you're still eating raw plant material, and I feel it isn't the most potent, but it sure is easy.

Edibles are really not as complicated as some would like to think.
The easiest way is to use some hash, doesn't have to be of good quality.
Add the amount of butter/oil the recipe calls for and the hash to a pot, and put in on the stove on low heat. Stir constantly until dissolved.
Then you just need to follow the recipe regularly in order to get some nice edibles.

You could make edibles, or you could try actual THC pills.
they make THC (indica & sativa) pills nowadays in california. For someone who doesnt have a large tolerance sometimes only 1 is needed to help if your not in a state with medicinal pot, try cooking some weed into butter or oil. Theres tons of recipes all over the net its not difficult.
but if you can access thc pills i'd say those are the best..im not sure what is in them exactly but theres usually a mix of thc oil/limonene & various oils. idk the exact ingredients but some of them can be vurrry potent

you could try one of the medical cannabinoids not the ones in the press right now or in the blends but there are a few with no rec value at all but are perfect for what you are looking for a quick google or a helpful soul in here my be able to name a few for you
