Hey all, been appreciating bluelight for a while but I have a specific question I'd like help with.

Cypress Hill are at the Palace in Melbourne later this year, and I'm wondering what the smoking situation is likely to be. I know that strictly speaking, smoking indoors is illegal, but if anyone has any experience to the contrary, I'd love to know. It's important to me that I know if people will be smoking in the pit.

Thanks.

Depends how they enforce it. I think theres substantial fines associated with it.
Dave chappelle even got fined for smokeing during a stand up comedy act in Britain and i think our law are as strictly enforced.

i really think it doesn't matter, its illegal, get blazed outside and come back in... cops will likely be everywhere, just like they were for cheech n chong.

I don't believe I've been to the Palace, but other metal gigs I've been at I've seen people smoking up on the floor. If the venue staff catch you, you'd be ejected, and possibly have the cops called (Billboard now has this policy). Best option is to not smoke in the venue. Only safe way.

I went to to soul assassins concert some 16-17 years ago, Cypress, Funk Doobiest & House of pain from memory, they lit up on stage as did the rest of festival hall. Smoking was not officially allowed in the place, but B-real told everybody to light up, and they did :)

I saw Dilated Peoples at the Espy at the start of the year, a fair few people blazed up on the floor..as did the band. I think it really depends on how tolerant the people are that run the show. Not sure what its like at the Palace unfortunately

we used to warn people, then throw them out if warnings weren't heeded... I've worked at the Palace/Metro as well though, and their security team definitely wasn't tolerant of drug taking in any form. You'd likely be thrown out without warning by them, so I wouldn't risk it.

thanks all. I guess the best thing to do is have a couple of doobs ready to go, and see what everyone else is doing. If B-Real says it's ok, it must be ok, right?

^ haha yeah no doubt. It obviously isn't a big deal. Like that one dude said earlier on, we can just get blazed beforehand or on the smokers balcony. But it'd be nice to pass a blunt around while nodding ya head to some black sunday.
