Cannabis and Psilocybin in the Bible.

TIL That it is suggested that Cannabis was an ingredient in the "anointing oil" used by Jewish priests in the Bible. Also Moses may have been under the influence of psilocybin during Mount Sinai.

....and? I don't know if theres any way to confirm whether this idea is true or false. I have heard this sort of thing before (look at the Canterbury Psalter for example) but I've never understood why people think this idea is important. If biblical stories were influenced by hallucinogens that doesn't change the often brutal and jealous doctrines and dogma instigated by the god of these people.

Its important since it provides a possible explanation of the "supernatural" events portrayed in the religions texts, and it doesn't follow that if it is influenced by drugs it makes them any better.
