oh Ashke, I just saw this for the first time today and think it's wonderful

!!!
your words are amazingly vivid just as they are, but I kept thinking that it would make a perfect golden book type story book, although the audience would not be *little* kids... LOL!
all you need is a good illustrator to draw pictures as pretty as your words and you'd have a raver classic on your hands

(gets down on his knees) Wow! such imagery, such mastery of words! what a vivid piture is here painted in my mind! I can see the small midwestern town so clearly - and I'm not even rollin'. A true masterpiece!
Your posts never fail to move and/or impress me!
Luv ya!

Wow.. never considered making it a picture book, but that would be so cool!

Hee. I like to draw... I know I'm good at it... But my passion is with words. And I find that my drawings are pretty aimless and uninspired unless I'm drawing a character I've written about, or something directly spouting from some written work somehow. I think that making Candygirl an illustrated story -- even just to draw two or three pictures to go alongside it -- I dunno, it sounds like a project that I could follow through on and enjoy.
Wow.... thank you so much for the idea!

Wow Cherub, I'm glad you bumped this, because I missed it the first time around. This is so good! It reminds me of going to my hick hometown a few months ago and seeing some party kida in a convinence store - they weren't kandied out, but they definitely didn't look like the rest of the redneck town either. It was great! This almost inspires me to candy out and go to Lawrenceburg to share the love.....

Find one person you can count on forever, one person you can love forever, and one person you can be with forever... and if you're lucky, it will all be the same person.
"Live for the memories."

you are right, people do bash candy kids and what i ant to know is why? What can be the bad in someone who is in general content wih themselves and having a good time with life. On top of that, like you mentioned in your poem, someone who can entrance and brighten up other people. this poem rocks!!

I remember the first time I met Ashke, she came into California to visit loupy, and we all went to a party together, and I was so excited to meet her. When she showed up to Moppy's house I was just... awestruck. She was every bit as bouncy and happy and vibrant and...ashke-like as she was on the board. It was..surreal, and from that instant I totally fell in love with the girl (if you can platonically fall in love, anyway). We exchanged bracelets with each other, and I couldnt tell you now which one she gave me, but I do still have it hanging up on my wall with all my old candy stuff - the relics of a time when I was more carefree, and happy, just wanted to have fun.
I'm fortunate enough to still know where to get in touch with her, but It's still been ages since I last spoke with her. I really miss that girl.
