And btw, Harper is not "ultra conservative" and a bad prime minister.
He is just a plain, smart conservative. Which sucks sometimes, but is way better than a complex, lying, dumb and religious conservative like Bush.
Say what you want about his policies (some sneaky things, cultural cuts, relations with journalists, not enough focus on environment, etc) , he has cut the fat in many needed places, and is one of the rare politicians who actualy do what he says instead of showboating all over with nice words and then crashing his country/not doing much when in office.
Canada is once again a strong and believable country with a firm line of thought, good development plans and very strong and resistant economy (14 Billion surplus this year, which would equal for 140B for a Country the size of US. )
Or debt is shrinking fast, our people are mostly happy and some of past choices (socialized medecine etc) are really paying off right now vs the "work or die", "poor or rich" approach of borderline fascist, totalitarian, imperialist and pre-Enlightment regimes such as the US, stuck in a stupid and static two-party regime, all duck-taped together by lobbyists, big money and the "Constitution", which is mainly used as toilet paper by Bush and the congress these days.
Really, from up here, it's painful to see you guys sinking and sinking in a sea of cultural waste, lackluster education for most and God-driven fiscal irresponsibility of titanesque proportions.
Right now Canada is just going through the motions of dissociating its economy and culture from the US, to minimize damage when the Empire inevitably do a Rome out of itself in the next decades. Immigration is still strong here, and we would vastly prefer smart americans over poor Mexicans so move North while it's still time and your money is still worth something...
So really, Harper isn't so bad and we'll accept his stupid drug policies (where we != Quebec) if he can keep his balls of steels on the other matters.
